COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

Light straw color. Sparkling, with a medium-sized white head. Somewhat bland, with just a hint of tanginess. A very light floral smell.

0.64cl bottle at Chinese restaurant, 4.7%. Clear pale yellow with small but fine head, short lasting. Nose is a bit skunky. Aroma is straw, rice and some malts. Tastes rather sweet, modest sour, very light hoppy finish. Light body, average carbonation. Overall sweet and easy to drink. OK with Chinese meals, may be not exciting drinking it alone.

Very mind skunkiness with a hint of hop sweetness. Very clear yellow and bubbly appearance. Mild bitterness with a mild sour finish that doesn’t linger long. Not too much different from most pale lagers. Nothing really negative but not much that stands out in a positive way either. I wouldn’t pass up it if offered but wouldn’t go out of my way for it.

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2011 Pours yellow lager colour but shade darker than most. Lots of clarity in the glass. Aromas are not strong. Bit of malt and grain. Taste is nice. Crisp, clean and refreshing and nice subtle malt notes and touch of bitterness. Very good with Chinese food, as a light counterpoint to oily spicy food. Rerated 10/08/11 - bit lacking in flavour so downgrading from 2.7 to 2.5.

1/10 i mörkhet. Luktar väldigt lite, äventuellt lite fruktigt. Vattning med en lätt fruktig smak med en lätt besk eftersmak.

Bottle. Pale golden clear with a white head. Smells fresh of malts and small hints of smokiness. Taste is sweet with some malts., some dryness in the finish. Finish has some bitterness. All in all a decent lager from a continent not known for their beer at all
