COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

Skunky aroma. Yet before purchasing, I took out a bottle and gave it a tilt. It stayed clear with no evidence of sediment, so I thought I was getting fresh. Pours a very pale yellow with a short lasting fizzy white head. Taste is faintly sweet pale malt and corn with a hint of hops. Quite watery and tasteless actually, but at least the skunk didn’t come through in the taste. Still, a total waste of $7.59.

UPDATED: JUL 25, 2006 It’s the most common beer in chinese restaurants here in Greece. If well chilled then it’s ok.

UPDATED: NOV 13, 2005 Solid beer. Pleasant. easy to drink. well-balanced. A good beer to drink with a meal. Not neccesaily to enjoy by itself.

12 oz bottle. Poured light golden color with thin white head. Little lacing. Aroma was slightly skunky, but detected sweet notes as well as some hops aroma. Taste was better than expected, slightly sweet and bitter. Kind of reminded me of a pilsner. Palate was somewhat thin however.

Can 330 ml:
Pours a clear light golden color. Head is big white and frothy but dissolves fast. It leaves a tiny ring. Aroma is lightly hoppy with german lager hops giving herbal and soft citrusy notes. Decent malty presence showing hints of cereal and fruits. Wait...now a little warmer I get fruits like banana...Belgian yeast? weird and unexpected. Flavor is surprisingly decent. Soft and fruity. Sweet without bitter counterbalance. Touches of vanilla, banana and fresh herbs. I expected much worse. This doesn’t taste like a cheap swill lager at all. Light body, watery texture. Low carbonation. Finish is short. Lagerish veggie aftertaste. Much better than I thought and went well with the chinese food (Chap Suey and Chaufan Rice)

Bottle. Pours a pale golden body with a white head. Adjunctive with some light vegetative notes, grain, and some light floral notes. An easy session ale that paired well with Tai.

(Bottle at some Chinese restaurant in Stockholm, 29 May 2010) Pale yellow colour with frothy, white head. Malty nose with grain, hay and rice. Malty taste with notes of bread, grain, grass and a touch of citrus. Low bitterness, rather thin body and fairly sweet. No foul flavours, just thin, sweet and fairly boring.
