COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

Bottled in Chinese restaurant “Jade” in Munich. Yellow with big white head. Bit bitter of hops but not unpleasant. It went well with roasted duck. Worth trying.

UPDATED: JAN 27, 2009 Bottle in frosty glass, at Chinese restaurant. Straw colored, and poured so exactingly by the waiter as to leave no head (I seem to recall medium-sized head when I poured as normal). Typical skunky lager aroma dissipates quickly into barely-there floral scent. Taste initially nuts and hop, then malt, with nuts winning out, but not much to either side. Slight sweet aftertaste. Doesn’t have the "there’s a headache coming" taste that American lagers have, but that may be due to no teenage-years overexposure to this beer. I swear I can taste rice in the bottom. OK beer; just now learning at 45 I’m not a light lager fan.

Christmas gift from Cissy. Thanks. Hadn’t rated this one. Clear gold pour with a thin white head that leaves a ring. Asian lager taste except for thin and bland. Not totally offensive, but not great.

Pours a light golden color with a very thin head that doesn’t stay for the after party smells light and sweet, decent sweet malt profile, with a tinge of something in the finish that is slightly unpleasent but I cant quite define it. A simple refreshing beer, but nothing out of this world really.

Bottle. Looking at the list if ingredients, I should have hated this. However, I have drank much worse. Pale gold with a decent white head that left moderate lacing. Aroma of sweet malt and rice with a whiff of hops. Flavour was a tad sweet with a vaguely hoppy finish. Inoffensive.

Light beer that reminds a little bit of Heineken. Refreshing but not really tasty. Almost like a lighty-alcoolic Perrier water.

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2009 Pours pale clear yellow, Large medium-dense white foam head. Just a little bubbling. Aroma is good a skunky at first like a nice pilsenser, but then closer inspection reveals sharp corn malt to the nose. Tastes like sweet sugar water with trace amounts of malt and hops mixed in maybe somewhere, but hard to detect.. Palate is a little tingly. Finish is a little harsh. Tastes much better in shenzhen.

bottle from Citymarket Sello (nice selection by the way) Golden with white head. sweet honey. exactly light but tasty like a mediterranean beer. (almaza for example)
