COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2006 OK, but average brew. Not much hops in either aroma or taste. There are thousands of brews just like this---but it’s fun to drink Chinese.

pours goldenish in color with a small white head, smell is mostly of malts, a tiny bit of skukiness in the aroma, taste was slightly sweet with a slight bitter finish, ok body a little watery, not a bad beer, it drinkable .

Bottle (355ml) Had this with dim sum at the Pearl restaurant at Harbourfront, Toronto. Pours a clear sparkling light yellow with an average, quick diminishing white head. Aroma is quite light, mild grain (corn & wheat) and slight hops, mildly sweet but not oppressively so. Taste follows the aroma - very light and cabronated mouthfeel, quite good with spicy food but I wouldn’t have it on its own.

Not one of the best beers in the world, but it is the #1 branded export from China. Typical premium lager with a little more flavor than it’s domestic counterparts.

Aroma of dusty hobs, mainly sweet malty flavor with nothing else going on. Standart, harmless and good for what it is.

Bottle. Poured a very light gold with a medium white head. Skunky, sour aroma. The palate is pretty thin but it’s not watery. The flavor is sour and bitter with a touch of citrus and very dry on the finish. Not as much malt character as a typical lager. It went OK with my spicy Chinese dinner

Didn’t expect much, but have been hitting some of these asian swills lately. Bottle opened with a strong skunk smell. Color was pretty light, yellow with a very slight off orange tint. Huge head merley from the artificial carbonation and it subsided just like a soda (some lacing throughout, though). Mouthfeel was decent for a swill and the flavor was corn malty with a mild (pleasant) hop finish that would be typical of a weak Pilsner. Wasn’t a great beer, but I’ve had worse.

Thin head on pouring, dissiaptes quickly. Hints of grass, and lemon. Noticeably malty and good hoppy flavor. Comes across as rather flat, but feels frothy in the belly.
