COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

Straw color, thin head. Bland but not bad. A microscopic trace of fruityness and a little bit of hops. Thankfully, not a trace of skunkiness unlike other imported pilsners.

Pale gold; heavy pearling to huge, frothy, just-yellowish tinted head. Very malty & grainy nose, faint peppery and grassy. Dull grainy taste, with a markedly spring water flavour. Ends gluey and chaff-like. Watery, spring water quality and inexistant palate. Uninteresting macro-lager. Certainly nowhere "well-hopped". Sheesh!

I guess i had a fresh bottle has the nose was faint malt, no skunk around here. The taste says adjunct but the bitterness saves this beer, as it makes it crisp. Very light and bland body.

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2009 Smells vaguely floral and sweet. Pours a light golden with no head to speak of. Beer is a bit thicker than i expected, and is actually a bit sweet and decently balanced. Finish is watery. No real adjunct flavors, at least. Easy to drink and very very mild. I’ve had worse, and i could imagine sort of enjoying it in China.

Very pale yellow hue, shy foamy head, skunky smell at the opening of the bottle, pale malt, mild floral accent, maybe hint of vanilla in the nose, follows through on a light-medium bodied palate, with crisp pale malt, touch of soft maltiness, in very light hoppy finish.

Drinkable Chinese lager, better than some Asian contemporaries but not particularly satisfying. Straw colour, short vanishing head. Bit more aromatic hops than is typical for the region. Quenching palate. This at least has some bitterness. (Bottle)

This beer is a lot better than the average American macro-brew; it’s lacking compared with the average euro-import, or good American brews like Yuengling. Sweet but not offensively so, some hops and some bitterness. Overall my complaint is of the body--it is thin as water. If they made this one a little bit richer and fuller, it would be a decent beer.

Clear pale golden color with a thin frothy white head. Sweet aroma with some light sour hints. Very smooth flavor of light malts.
