COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

Typical boring mass produced beer, with the special bonus that the green bottle makes it easily skunked. I can’t believe they export this all the way to the US. We have plenty of our own bad beer here, and cheaper!

640 ml bottle. Very pale yellow, completely clear, with a tiny frothy white head which went away immediately leaving no lacing. On the nose grain, corn, rice, wet cardboard. Very hard to expand on the taste. Just grainy, vegetable-like, extremely sweet and cloying. No malt or hop bitterness whatsoever. Papery and dusty aftertaste. Average carbonation, light to medium body, slightly creamy texture. Easily forgettable.

Almost no aroma just a hint of malt. Pale golden color with a white well laced head. Tastes like a poor man’s Heineken hint of malts and nuts. Watery feel no aftertaste.

After reading the above note, clearly this was the beer I had under the same ABV. Though after having this more than enough times in the bottle and having it in a pint glass, I’ve also been able to get it in a pilsener glass as well. Here’s the rest. The appearance was a nice light yellow color with strong rising carbonation to fill a rapidly dissipating head. There was some light lacing but it slid right on into the beer somewhat quickly. The smell had a generic cooked corn like substance but somehow maybe even be rice that was in as well or possibly just itself. The taste was semi - sweet and had a slight quick sweet clean and crisp finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it causing it to go well with food. The carbonation was somewhat crisp yet smooth. Overall, decent pale lager that’s worthy of coming back though the smell seemed a bit weak.

This is a light beer. Macro feel but very refreshing. Pairs nicely with some spicey food from the East Village.

Bottle from Fyne Wines, Argyll. Pale lemon colour with decent head. Faints of citrus and pear. Generally less of the artificial metallic notes I tend to find in most bog-standard lagers but otherwise really nothing special.

0,64l bottle. Golden color with quickly disappearing white head. Weak grainy aroma. Taste is sweet and skunky with bitter finish. Overall it’s pretty bad beer.

330ml bottle from Lidl. Very pale colour, clear liquid with almost no head (which disappears immediately). Very mild, boring taste.
