Tsingtao Beer has a pleasant aroma and a well-balanced taste. It has high-malty flavor and well-hopped character. Tsingtao is produced with spring water from Laoshan, a mountain area famous throughout China for the purity of its water. The domestically-grown hops used to brew Tsingtao are of such high quality that they are also exported to European breweries. Tsingtao also uses the finest yeast and barley imported from Australia and Canada in its brewing process.

NOTE: Under this entry, rate ONLY exported Tsingtao that roughly matches the ABV and local Tsingtao that matches it completely. If it differs in any way and doesn’t match the other entries under the brewer, please send in a bug report with the alcohol percentage, degrees plato (important!), the GTIN and preferably a link to a picture of both the front and the back label so that we can set up an entry.

Light, smooth, but lacks fragrance and character. Ok with Chinese food but doesn’t stand much on its own.

Pours straw yellow, very light color. Small white head. Aroma is corn with some skunk. Sweet and malty. No biterness. Really. Hops are absent here. Some DMS maybe. High carbonation, low body, very watery.

12 ounce bottle purchased at Total Wine in Sacramento. My first China rating. The aroma is full of skunked hops with some corny DMS present. Not much else. Pale yellow transparent color with a small, weak whitish head. Starts with a bit of a sweet, corny flavor, before this becomes thin and watery in the middle. More corn late. I don’t really detect any other hops or flavors other than the corn. Some mineral character may also be present. Easy enough to drink.

Incredibly light colored & clear beer with a head that completely disappears almost immediately. Faint grain & skunk on the nose but with a very refreshing, almost Heineken like taste. Not bad at all.

Easy drinkeable beer, simple pilsener. Not as bad as expected, but nothing interesting in this one.

UPDATED: FEB 27, 2015 500ml can. Usual comercial smell, something chemical in it. Yellow color with too much bubbles, not natural at all. Sweet taste. At the begining is not that bad, but after sometime in mouth is bad, believe me. Is there any sense in using rice in this beer at all? EDIT: After two hours after drinking this I still have the taste in my mouth and is disgusting. AVOID.

Slightly better than water. The slight fluorescent green tint to the pale yellow is disconcerting. Makes me crave beechwood aging.

Bottle: clear pale lager. Not much flavor but not offensive to the taste buds like Budweiser, Miller or Coors. Slight grapey aftertaste. Happy Chines New Year!!

Bottle from Charlie Chan, Cambridge. Light to mid-yellow with a reasonable white head. Malty grassy aroma, not much to it. Refreshing bittersweet taste, but again not particularly engaging or memorable. It’s just sort of... there. Good enough with food, and I had three bottles so can’t be that bad. But it’s just another pointless lager at the end of the day.
