Tap at Cookie. Nice, a bit too bitter though. Aromas of grass, and caramel. Taste is hoppy, with long-lasting bitterness. Palate is creamy, and medium bodied. Amber, with a frothy head.

Bottle. Great label. Great beer. Big aroma right away. Big fluffy head. Taste is hops & malt, with the hops winning the battle. I find the palate much better than Epic pale, more full bodied. Great addition to the Tuatara range.

Tried on tap at Cookie. Slightly murky amber golden body with lasting head. Hops don’t dominate the aroma though they try. Resinous and grassy in the taste, good length.

I love hops so was easily seduced by this one. Pours dark copper with a huge piney citrus aroma that punches you in the nose straight away.
Good start !! First sip BOOM a mouthful of spicy resiny hop flavours followed by a long sustained bitterness... my kinda beer

One of the better APA’s I’ve had recently. Hops, lovely hops in abundance on the nose, but has a nice malt weight that supports the hops and lets them ghost gently over yr tongue. Very enjoyable and sufficently hoppy to scare off the monsters that plague me on a late night walk home from Poms

Very very hoppy for an APA. Heavy on the Amarillo! A bit *too* aggressive for my pale ale preferences...but happy to see hoppy beers sprouting out in NZ!

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
on tap at Hashigo Zake
Aroma: yeast, hops and citrus;
Appearance: Amber, clear, small head, good lacing. My experience is that a beer on tap would show less head than out of a bottle. Visually a very lovely beer, damn close to a 5 out of 5;
Taste: hoppy bitterness, grapefruit sour, rounded taste indicates a background of saltiness and sweetness but not overt;
Palate: astringent finish, sour finish, lively carbonation, dry texture;
Overall: Had this along with Golden Bear Patriot’s Pale Ale (also on tap at Hashigo but not listed here at Rate Beer) and the APA was pleasantly comparable if somewhat less complex.Tuatara has been rather pedestrian and playing it safe has not really stuck out of the crowd but this is a brave and quite good attempt. Evidently not out in bottles yet according to Dominic over at Hashigo. Would love to see this on local shelves.

Solid malt, fruity hops. I could drink a lot of this. Very nice from Tuatara.

Draught. Plenty of bitterness with this, and that hop flavour really comes through. This will please the hop lovers.
