650mL bottle. Pours light amber with a white head and a very nice caramel/berry aroma. It taste like a beer flavoured toffee bar, very unique and compelling. Not like any beer i have had previously.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Jimthechap (1195) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - APR 6, 2013
I added the commercial description to this beer and I’ve thought that this wasn’t a terribly good idea because people are suggestible when it comes to imagining flavours. Yep, pine and strawberry, caramelised sugars and bread. They’re all there. I would only think to add tangelo to those descriptions and this seems to be my predominant impression of Waimea hops. The impression of the beer overall is favourable but I think in terms of body it could be a little bigger. That said, I’m glad I purchased it.
(I wish someone would pay me to drink beer, or is that a little obvious for anyone on this site?)
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Davros (1484) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAR 21, 2013
Pours dark amber with a fading head.
Nose shows grassy, herbal and fruity hops with a bit of lychee and peach. Also some sweet malt with a hint of biscuity, toasty malt.
Very similar flavours, sweet malt, soft toasty notes, grassy herbal hops. Pretty sweet, maybe a bit heavy-handed on crystal malt?
Could use more carbonation.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Gramoit (252) - AUSTRALIA - MAR 21, 2013
Big hoppy aroma. Pretty good APA this, plenty of flavour including some sweet malts and plenty of hops. Really good session beer, would be great if they could put these in smaller bottles.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 hawthorne00 (1860) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - FEB 26, 2013
Bottle. Amber with an inch of off-white head. Aroma of toasty caramel, berries, pepper, peach and resin. Light bodied, highish carbonation. Sweet caramel and berries, resinous and peppery bitter finish rushes up. Refreshing. A little thin, but nice hops.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ComradeK (732) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - FEB 24, 2013
650ml bottle. Pours a hazy medium amber, with a large off-white head, which does not last all that well but does leave reasonable lacing. Fruity hops aromas of strawberry and kiwifruit mix with pine, a touch of charcoal and some rye toast. Fruity strawberry up front blends nicely with some caramel malt. The flavours sharpen into potent kiwifruit hops leading into a body of caramel and toasted rye malt. Bitter pine hops come through in the finish, which leaves an aftertaste of pine and strawberry. The hops flavours in this beer are very enjoyable indeed. If Waimea is a new hop variety, then I can only hope that it catches on.

Great APA, good flavours and balance. I love the resinous strawberry flavour. Doesn’t last long which is a shame.
