COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Calling Double Trouble a "hop showcase" might imply that this brutal 167 IBU monster has your best interests at heart. If your answer to the question, "How much hopping would you like?" is simply "more", this is what you wish for. The malt base and Chico yeast together construct the perfect platform for the multiple additions of so many hop varieties no mere beer label could label them all. Your overwhelmed taste buds will know the feeling.

Good looking beer to begin, disapates significantly as with most in this style. Have tried this off tap and 650ml bottles. As usual, fresh from tap has more to it. Enjoyable and full of flavour, grapefruit, pine and citrus, bubblegum and caramel malts. Alcohol could be better balanced but it is a strong one to begin with. Good beer, definitely purchasing again.

Poured a light amber with a thick white head. Aroma of floral hops and some malt. Medium body, flavour is over undeveloped overpowering hop bitterness. Poor.

Bottle at the Deanso’s monthly RB tasting, July 2013. Poured a a clear medium amber with a round white head. The aroma is rich alcoholic. The flavour is strong bitter, rich, spicy, alcoholic liquorice. Rather nice and drinkable, but only in small quantities. The liquorice bitterness in the the finish is a little too much for me.

Bottle. Pours clear copper. Malty and hoppy. Not so many flavours, just hops. Quite bitter but s good backbone. Fairly alcoholic with a lingering bitter finish.

Bottle shared at Dean’s sticky table tasting thanks to Deanso. Pours clear amber with an off white head. Aroma of big bitter hops, grapefruit, real hop overload, but not in a good complex way. Some caramel malt. Flavour is light moderate sweet and over moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Awesome double ipa is right up there with some of the great american imperial ipas. The 650ml bottle goes down well.

650 ml bottle. Pours amber with light head. Aromas of toffee, pine, and New Zealand hops. Flavors are the same though more pronounced with a bit malt component. Chewy. Very nice

650mL bottle, pours a clear bronze with a small off-white head. Nose brings out yeast, caramel malt, and some resinous hops - quite balanced and more yeasty for a IIPA. Flavour brings out loads of resinous hops, caramel malts, and a bit of candied sugar. The 167IBU is extremely well-concealed. Quite a bit more malty than my ideal IIPAs, but the balance is good enough and it never becomes cloying. Good stuff, but underwhelming.
