COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Calling Double Trouble a "hop showcase" might imply that this brutal 167 IBU monster has your best interests at heart. If your answer to the question, "How much hopping would you like?" is simply "more", this is what you wish for. The malt base and Chico yeast together construct the perfect platform for the multiple additions of so many hop varieties no mere beer label could label them all. Your overwhelmed taste buds will know the feeling.

Pours a clear orangish amber with a small off white ring. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, resin, caramel and passionfruit. Taste is caramel, passionfruit, citrus notes and a nice balance between hops and malts in this one. Excellent iipa.

Bright orange in colour with big white head that dissipated quickly. Citrus/hop aroma. Huge marmalade flavour. Tingly lips, and long bitterness. Super cool 3D label.

UPDATED: JUN 2, 2013 Bottle from liquor barons Carlisle. Pours deep copper with nice white head. Aromas of passionfruit, toasted coconut and other tropical fruits. Taste is all about the tropical fruit hops. Heaps of passionfruit in this one, bitterness from the 167 IBU’s goes on forever. What a winner! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Really tasty beer. Has that je ne sais quoi that you can only get from NZ hops. Only disappointment is that itís painfully under-carbonated. Still a really nice example of a PROPER (by US standards) Southern Hemi IIPA. Well balanced for my pallet. Reminds me of a massive 8 Wired Hop-wired.

beer 3 of 5 from the "I Had to Not use Hot Water for 4 Months to Afford Beer" Review tour. Why am I still awake? Last half of bottle. Little head, standard colour. Sweetish. Caramel base, bunch if things youíd expect, citrus things, Iím so tired. This is a battle. Whatever - this is a standard just abo e average iipa with no special qualities. Tastes better than it smells. Massive bitterness. Orange, gf, caramel, light heat. Other things you can find yourself. Lazy review but Iím gassed. Good stuff.

Bottle - Pine, citrus and the candy floss sweetness I love. Clear orange with a thin ring of head. The malty sweetness starts, then followed by the bitterness and alcohol head with a finally of pine and citrus. Medium body with a dry finish. A huge hop bomb that is over the top but not unbalanced or overwhelming. A great Double IPA.

Davros (1939) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 13, 2013
Pours dark amber with a small head. Very fruity aroma but also a lot of sweet clean malt. Some booze. Caramel, pine and resinous hops dominate. Very aggressive flavours, with a big hoppy bitterness throughout. A fair bit of clean sweet malt as well, but the resinous, grapefruity hop bitterness wins out. Nice moderate carbonation. The bitterness seems to sharp and aggressive.

UPDATED: JUL 15, 2014 From a 650ml bottle on 12/5/2013 (shared with Butz). Pours a clear dark golden with a small head. Has a very strong hoppy aroma, with lots of fruity and resiny notes. Flavour wise, thereís a big caramel and toffee malt backbone, masses of sweet citrus and stone fruit (orange, mandarin and apricot), a bit of honey, and a huge grapefruity bitterness at the back. There a hint of warming alcohol in there as well. The palate is relatively slick and the carbonation modest. A very enjoyable imperial.

This is my first bottle and Iím still trying to come to grips with it, thereís so much going on. The DANK! The RESIN! The dankly resinous forests of the Pacific NW have bled their guts into my glass and mixed with Jurassic tar-fields incongruously tasting of citrus; what were they eating? The alcohol warmth in the oily finish is very fitting for tonight, which has brought the first taste of the coming Southern Hemisphere winter. "Oily finish" sounds a bit like "oily fish", doesnít it? Donít get me started about the health-giving, restorative properties of hop oils, which I have discovered through personal experience, just donít.
