COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Calling Double Trouble a "hop showcase" might imply that this brutal 167 IBU monster has your best interests at heart. If your answer to the question, "How much hopping would you like?" is simply "more", this is what you wish for. The malt base and Chico yeast together construct the perfect platform for the multiple additions of so many hop varieties no mere beer label could label them all. Your overwhelmed taste buds will know the feeling.

Tuatara need to be commended for this beer as it is one of the best I have tried. While aggressively hoppy at 167 IBU (which I would contest) it has a smooth sweetness that carries the beer. A little alcoholic on the finish, but I am nitpicking on a fine specimen of a beer. Extra points given for 3D glasses that accompany the beer.

This beer hands down should win every award in NZ. Lived there for 7 months and this bad boy was what I was looking for. When I spotted this for the first time at a Queenstown market I knew immediately it would be amazing. It did not disappoint. Amazing citrus and fruity aroma, amazing citrus and fruity taste. I fell in love.

Super excited to get my hands on this! The smells hits as soon as I crack the cap, big complex citrus, as you’d expect, but more complex than the vast majority of offerings in this style. Pours a clear light amber with perfect carbonation and adequate head. On to the taste, BOOM! Big bitter hop punch balanced by perfect malt back bone. This is a very impressive beer. The best IIPA I’ve had in a long time, blows a lot of the big west coast favourites out the water, Wow! I want more! hope I can get my hands on some...

Bomber from Joes Waterhole in Eumundi. Poured beautifully with a nice thick head, nice fruity aroma with the evident taste of the Nelson Sauvin hops shining through of which I love. Very easy drinking for a 9% and up there with some of the other fantastic NZ IPA/2IPAS around. I think this is Tuataras best and highly recommend. It won’t disappoint.

Aroma is of grapefruit, hops, citrus, pine. Pours an opaque golden color which produced a nice head with lacing. Bitter hop taste and some alcohol heat right off the bat, which quickly subsides to one of the best balances between pine and citrus notes I have encountered. This was great!!

650ml bottle. Pours a fairly clear golden amber, with a small off-white head, which lasts reasonably well, but does not leave much lacing. Peach, kiwifruit and floral hops mix with caramel malt to create the aroma. Kiwifruit and tropical Nelson Sauvin hops up front lead into smooth caramel malt in the mid-palate. Assertive pine and kiwifruit hops come into the finish. This is a nice, potent IIPA, and very enjoyable.

650ml Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange colour with a tint of gold. Reasonable head, well laced. Aromas of pine and sweet malts with notes of citrus and hints of passion fruit. Initial flavour is smooth caramel with a malty character, and already bitter. Bitterness is very well balanced and it moves into a stronger citrus flavour. Finish is bitter malty, pine flavour, Very warming and smooth, leaves a wonderful malty bitterness in the mouth. Lightly carbonated with an excellent balance between caramel malts and an aggressive hopping. Awesome beer!!

Full hop blast on the nose when pouring this one. Comes out a clear light copper color. Smells delicious, Big citra-hop aromas. First sip: whoa. Huge hops, big flavors of grapefruit and citrus, but balanced with a bit of malty sweetness. I've had much lower ibu beers that were much more abrasive than this. The bitterness is there, and strong, but somehow not overwhelming. Overall I'm really impressed with this one. Quite delicious. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Great beer, for those of us for whom hoppiness is next to Godliness. Perfect amount of hops (a lot!), but still retains full flavour, and does not over power the palate, but instead leaves a delicate lingering hoppiness that has you wanting more

Pleasant, strong American hop aroma. A bit cloudy, with large head that is retained well. Mid amber colour. Strong malty flavour, heaps of bitterness and strong hop presence. Despite the intensity of the parts of this beer the whole is superbly balanced. A very decisive beer that needs to be shared.
