COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wheat beers have been around for centuries, but you can still startle unsuspecting New Zealanders with a good one. Most beer malts are barley-based, but a portion of wheat in the mash results in a sweeter, cloudier base. In combination with a Weinstephan yeast, this produces distinctive flavours of ripe banana, vanilla and clove. (Don’t be alarmed, they all do that.) Hop additions are used to balance the sweetness, but things never get bitter like the Australians when they lose the cricket.

Cloudy dull yellow. Smells footy...too much yeast. The body is fairly full, but still on the yeasty side of things. Touch style to nail.

(330ml, bottle, Beijing) Appearance: medium yellow... a bit brown/beige (rough amber color). light head. Aroma: nice nose. heavier on the citrus, tart, yeast side. less banana. Taste: acidic/tart. with good yeast flavor. some grainy malt coming through. Anice, clove, herb/cilantro, touch of sweetness upfront but dry follow through. some bitterness and a hint of metallic. Palate: sparkly on the palate with some creamy oiliness. lingering dry bitterness on the cheeks Overall: above average yummy and nose. a bit under average in looks. maybe a couple off flavors, but the beer i have is nearing expiration. tastes like they did not skimp on the ingredients, robust and flavorful. Better than most hefe weissbiers ... I recommend.
