COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tuatara Indian Pale Ale is brewed using the finest New Zealand malt imparting to the beer a full-bodied malt character yet still retaining the light color of the style. Aroma is malty and sweet, scarcely hoppy, not much like an IPA. It pours a clear, dark golden amber with a respectable, if not too persistent, pale cream head that leaves some good lacing. Flavor is fairly hoppy, but as much malty as hoppy, with a fruity undertone of pear and orange. Smooth texture has average body and fizz, and leaves a malty, slightly fruity, slightly hop bitter finish. Average, but still acceptable.

Keg at the CP&K, Pimlicoco, 06/03/15. Golden orange with a moderate off white covering. Nose is thin, hints of pond water, light hop, orange juice, straw. Taste improves a little, caramel malt, hop notes, light tropical fruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. So so offering, drinkable I guess but lacks any depth to the flavour and way down the pecking order in the IPA world. Not really an IPA @ just 5% and going by the (lack of) flavour profile, presumably added as such just because the brewery called it an IPA!

A nice and deep golden colour, not much visible carbonation bit a thick (albeit rapidly disappearing), off white head. There’s a pleasant mixture of biscuity malts and stone fruit hop aromas, with a slight hint of pine In the background. To tastes there’s an upfront bitterness supported by a backbone of pine. A feeble dose of malty flavour rounds out the back end of the beer, not overly complex here. Palate is a little light on for my liking, carbonation is a bit weak and it’s just not very moreish. Meh, it’s ok.
