Tuatara Indian Pale Ale is brewed using the finest New Zealand malt imparting to the beer a full-bodied malt character yet still retaining the light color of the style. Classic English variety hops are used to produce the traditional high bitterness, flavor and aroma enjoyed in this style. This is a strong ale with 5% alcohol.

Pours dark amber/brown with a low white head. Has a slightly funky aroma initially, with zesty hops and grainy malt and possibly some grapefruit. Nice strong bitterness which is all the way to the finish. Other, sour flavours like grapefruit and orange peel. Has a very grainy malt flavour and is kind of peppery as well. Okay...

Caramel and fruity overall. A bit of citrus. Rustic malts, earth tones, sweet. Medium bodied. Pretty good.

Aroma is fairly generic ; Light malt roastiness and some basic hop bitterness. Slight notes of straw and hay. Taste is a fairly bland malt profile with slightly earthy bitterness that comes through and leaves a slight tartiness on finish. Appearance is a clear gold with a frothy thick pearl head that retains fairly well.

Bottle from Yamaichi. Good solid malty nose, thick caramel, tinged with some stinky hops. Pretty copper color, slick, with little head. Malty initial, caramel rising, level off in mid and then mild hopping emerges. Hops really burst out in mid. Finishes with subtle bitter notes. Medium body. Brit style, for sure. Solid IPA.

Keeps a frothy head. Has carbonation. Got citrus, grapefruit, but not strong. Carbonation does hit on smell in the glass. Low key finish. Came in 500ml bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Rakuten, it poured a deep copper-amber pour with a thick fluffy head & a luscious floral hop aroma with hints of fruitiness and dank resinous hop notes. Medium bodied with a lightly scratchy carbonation this IPA tastes lightly bitter with pine, resin & a certain fruity quality to it. Really tasty stuff, a great easy drinking fairly sessionable IPA. Nothing extraordinary but quite solid.

Bottled. New Zealand holiday 2011-12. Old notes. Aroma has citrus, mandarins. Clear, copper-amber coloured with an off-white, thin head. The taste is light bitter, has citrus/oranges, some pale maltiness. Bitter finish.

330 ml brown reptilian bottle purchased and consumed in Wellington, NZ. BB date of July 2014. Pours deep amber with a bubbly bone-colored head. Good lacing. A light IPA featuring NZ hops, with an aromatic herbal nose but with the hop power of a slightly aggressive APA. Long lasting hoppy aftertaste. Appropriate malts for balance. Feel: medium body; smooth; excellent, soft carbonation. O: a weak version of the Tuatara APA, which I had immediately before this ale.

From bottle. Clear amber brown, gassy with a tall head. Vibrant acid and crunchy dog food malt with dusty and stale bread crust, little hop aroma, low bitterness, basic caramel malt core. Nutty, dusty / powdery flour grittiness... it doesn’t seem oxidized at all but definitely seems dull and stale in the nose and flavor. Quite disappointing after finding the Helles pleasant.

Orange pour from bottle. Tons of white head. Grapefruit and orange notes. Something off. Not a fan.
