COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Here at Tuatara we understand that your enthusiasm for hops has mutated into a full-blown obsession. We also know that your king hit of the beloved cone often comes with alcohol levels that can turn an evening into a lifetime. ITI (te reo Maori for “small”) is what you’re looking for. It’s got the New World hop slam you crave from Citra, Simcoe, Amarillo and Cascade, but with a subdued malt background and a very diplomatic 3.3% alcohol. It’s the ideal session ale for the unreconstructed hophead. After a solid month of “market testing”, aka we released the 1st batch of ITI on tap in May, we have happily concluded that this little gem is good for bottling… so we have!

Bottle from World Beer Market (Sake no Taniguchi). Light sourish and overripe fruity nose, with kiwi and citrus notes. Medium copper/amber color. Some caramel up front, touch of grapefruit, and small spicy hoppiness. Very light body, almost watery. Session stuff, taken a notch lower even. While it is drinkable, it seems tired and weak.

Golden pour with a decent white head. Biscuity, caramel and pine aromas. Taste is malty, citrus, and a fairly bitter finish. A little thin but not surprising given the ABV, has pretty good flavour

BOTTLE. Pours see through orange/gold with small white head.. Grassy hoppy nose, a little malt.. A mixture of tea leaves & malt to start, turning to a sappy hoppy finish.. Much better straight from the bottle.. Sourced Cellarbrations @ Capel

Poured into a taster showing no head and translucent caramel brown with moderate filtration. The nose shows a strong biscuit malt sweetness. The palate is light bodied and well carbonated. Flavors of extremely subtle malts and sparse notes of bittering hops at the end. Very watery in general and a bit too light for anything.

From a 330ml bottle on 10/10/2015. Pours a clear dark golden with a small head. The nose features some fruity hops with some metalic notes. Flavour wise, there’s carmel malt, some citrus fruit, and a pretty firm spicy bitterness, again with a slight metallic taste. The texture is thin and the carbonation average. A bit too disjointed to really impress, but still packed with flavour for a little beer.

Pours copper with a large head. Nose shows caramel, some earthy and piny hops. Flavors include sweet bready malt and earthy hops followed by an aggressive bitterness. Too much carbonation.

First reaction was that this was thin and lacking body. But it quietly grew into a well rounded brew. Citrus and spice aroma with biscuit body. Really good for a session
