3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Redmonds. No indication as to when it was bottled. Clear amber in colour medium, off white head which doesnt last. Sweety malty toffee nose is very pleasant. Some fruity hops, but no real bite. Slight cheesiness in the flavour suggests old hops here, shame cos there is loads of body for the ABV. Would like to try this fresh, could be a real winner.

There are plenty of styles that translate well in a <4% range: Bitter, Mild, Berliner Weisse, even saison, to name a few. APA is not in that group. Pours an amber-ish gold with little whisps of foam. Hop aroma is of pine and citrus. A sulfury yeast character is apparent. No malt aroma. Flavor is grassy. Really grassy! No malt balance to speak of. Some pine resin and a faint apple note creeps in. Clean, dry finish.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
330ml bottle for a low alcohol beer this is surprisingly bitter dry & very hoppy, not bad but found this a bit rough overall

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Much better than their Best Bitter - but a little too watery to compete with some contemporary local low alcohol brews. A nice drop nonetheless.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Bottle) (Small) This is a revelation. Has plenty of chops for a lower ABV beer. Lots of nice hop bitterness with each mouthful. Easily quaffable. The hop aroma on opening was amazeballs, this didn’t carry to the glass. The hop taste though!! - WOW. Nicely done. As a day beer this wouldn’t be a bad idea, and it’s a world better than a lot of other domestic beers.

From handpull at Albar in Dunedin. Light amber colour with gentle hop fragrance. Tangelo and oranges there but somewhat subdued. The flavour has ovetones of APA without the body or character of its large cousin, Nui. Sessionable, but a little thin.
