Black with a pretty bog standard tan head, aroma of tobacco, chocolate and dates. Not too complex but ticks a few boxes. Perhaps the body is a wee bit on the light side for me, but I guess its pretty on par for a porter. The flavour follows a similar line to the aroma, showing a good blend of dried fruit and chocolate, with some subtle candy sweetness. Quick finish without any residual bitterness or sweetness. A good sessionable porter.

Bottle, Bangkok, wishbeer. Coffee color with dark roasted coffee flavor and bitterness. Little red wine notes. It's easier to seek good cup of coffee.

maekchu (2123) - Hirakata, JAPAN - JUN 7, 2014
Bottle from Yamaichi. Winey nose, roast malt, chocolate, cocoa powder. Thin dark brown with reddish edges. Sweet roast, chocolate, medium bitterness, light plummy fruit, Finishes with rough bittering. Thin-medium body, A bit dry in the finish. Pretty good. Rather light bodied, with, mild flavors. Interesting NZ-character porter.

Very dark brown but perfectly clear. Latte coloured head that is not very dense but lasts well. Strong roasted coffee & burnt caramel aroma. Flavour is not too rich, but has a lovely burnt bitterness. A little bit nutty. A good example if how I imagine a proper porter to be.

Bottle from Rakuten. Served in a pint glass. It pours a dark brown verging on black. Savory, roasty chocolate notes. Light bodied, almost thin but with a smooth palate. The taste is satisfying, dark licorice, soy, roast cocoa beans. A good beer but lighter than I usually like my porters.

(Bottle) Clear black with slight tan head. Subtle aroma of toffee with hints f coffee beans. Light body with fairly full carbonation. Quite a sweet and fruity foretaste gives way to dark roast and burnt notes for a clean finish. Not my favorite style, and I think not very true to the original, but that works for me.

Sweet roasted caramel aroma, black with thin lasting head. Definite coffee and chocolate flavours with a malty smoothness. I like it a lot!

chinchill (1857) - South Carolina, USA - JAN 15, 2014
330 ml brown reptilian bottle, stamped best by July 2014, purchased and consumed in Wellington, NZ. Pours opaque and near black with a proportionate tan head. Excellent lacing. Aroma: rich and moderately complex, with a mix of roasted grains and a clear suggestion of chocolate. Flavor: fine blend of dark malts; no burnt tones; some dark chocolate. Feel: medium-full body; lively carbonation for style. O: A solid London style porter.

Good chocolatey aroma. Very dark but thin appearance. Thin watery palate, worst part. Disappointing flavor - bit burnt, bitter, surprisingly tart, but not much there overall.

Cola-red with hardly any head. Smells smokey, chocolate and burnt malts and raisin. Very thin and watery, tastes burnt without much flavour, dry sharp finish. Expect more from Tuatara.

The head is ok, the body black. It smells roasty, bit coffee. The taste is darkmalty, mild, malty. Ok
