Lovely deep russet/ruby colour with a swiftly dissapating head, but evidence of lingering carbonation. This beer started out with an aromatic wine aroma (Riesling/Pinot Gris) but slowly gave way to more coffee and burnt caramel aromas. Excellent mouthfeel, sweet chocolate flavours and again a vinous flavour to it. Sauvin hops? I could be wrong. An intriguing drop and not at all what I expected out of a London Porter. I’d definitely have another one if only to attempt to try and figure this beer out.

Pours black with ruby/copper highlights. Nose shows a lot of sweet crystal, they weren’t joking about the "generous" amounts of specialty malt. Also nice nutty notes and soft roasted hints. Flavours present more dominant roasted malt but includes some harsh notes. Not enough sweet malt (which is wierd considering the aroma). Good carbonation, not too high!

330ml brown bottle. Deep brown in colour, red highlights. Tan head, a few random spots of lace. Nose has dark chocolate and roasted notes, a little sweetness. Taste has roasted and chocolate malt, notes of caramel, dark cherry. Finishes with roasty bitterness and light hops. Medium body with decent carbonation. A nice porter overall.

chinchill (2056) - South Carolina, USA - JAN 15, 2014
330 ml brown reptilian bottle, stamped best by July 2014, purchased and consumed in Wellington, NZ. Pours opaque and near black with a proportionate tan head. Excellent lacing. Aroma: rich and moderately complex, with a mix of roasted grains and a clear suggestion of chocolate. Flavor: fine blend of dark malts; no burnt tones; some dark chocolate. Feel: medium-full body; lively carbonation for style. O: A solid London style porter.

Dark body with light brown head. Light milky chocolate aroma but the taste is more of roasted bitterness and less of the chocolate, more of a robust style where there is more of a roasted bitterness coming through than the chocolate notes that I expect.

330ml bottle. Extremely large crackling coffee coloured foam head that stays around. Burnt and roasted malt aroma with a hint of vegemite. Burnt dry flavour that curls all around the mouth. Nice to sip on a cool, night, a beer that has some substance.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2013 Bottle, 10C - improved as it warmed. Dark brown with a large frothy beige head that settles, laces and returns with a swirl. Aroma of coffee, mild roasted malt and grass - smells pretty hoppy. Some prunes and rasins too. Quite carbonated mouthfeel. Taste has plain chocolate and coffee with bare hints of dark fruits and dark sugars. Mildly roasted bitter finish also has some ash. Solid but staid. [6 4 6 3 13=3.2] 500ml bottle, 12C. Fresher hops and much lower carbonation. Some licorice. Quite dry at the end. Fairly hoppy porter.
