COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tuborg Black is a high-quality beer made from water, pale barley malt, caramel malt, malt extracts and hops. The Tuborg Black beer is a part of the new Tuborg brand, and it is a response to the rapidly developing, fashionable trend of beer with flavoring additives, and Tuborg Black overturns all traditional ideas about dark beer: despite its color one drinks it in one breath and it is certain to appeal to those constantly searching for unhackneyed taste sensations. Tuborg Black is concentrating on the more upbeat and daring night time drinking occasions, where unexpectedness and spontaneity are what makes the evenings unforgettable. Tuborg Black has been produced since February 2009 in a transparent 0.5 liter bottle with a typical Tuborg relief and a convenient cap with a ring.

I got this in Kyrgyzstan, so I think it’s the Russian version. I poured it into a plastic cup (the only cup available). It smells strongly of burnt and roasted malt. It is black colored with one finger of tan head. The head lasted only seconds though. The taste was lots of roasted malt and sweet. Simple but good. Smooth and crisp feeling. No gimmicks, just a nice black beer.

This is the same as Saku On Ice Black - disappointment. Yes, it is a fun experiment, and the public goes wild, but when it comes to beer- this is rather simple. Not a bad experiment, but not my fav.

0.5L Bottle. The description is a joke, I don’t know what the hell they were thinking of when they wrote it, but it isn’t even close. Pours a mahogany color, with a little lacing. Light sour aroma, unimpressive. Taste - not the complex malty character I wanted, kind of falls flat. Tastes like regular swill that’s got just a tinge more to it. It could be worse.

An anti-beer to me. No aroma, traces of bread & caramel. Tastes like pipe water. The palate is light in the third degree. Never again. Horrible.

Bought in a supermarket in Kazakhtan. A Carlsberg Kazakhstan beer. I don’t know what this drink is trying to be but whatever it’s trying to be it hasn’t done a very good job. A rather odd drink and not very nice. Too fizzy for a dark beer. Looks like cola.

Dark black pour with a thin tan head. The aroma has a little bit if roast and a fairly thin malt base. Meh - it’s incredibly thin tasting with really nothing in it. It’s kind of a miracle that something with his much pigment can have this little flavour. There is really almost nothing here, other than the colour.

The beer is basically black. The aroma - it’s like taking a chemical bath. I’d been avoiding this one since St. Petersburg and probably should have kept avoiding it. Taste is actually like nothing. Watery and quick. One of the sorriest black beers I’ve ever had.

Almost forgot notes I wrote few months ago on this one, when samples were offered on Tuborg "promotional tasting" around the Croatia. It had dark reddish brown body with big ivory head. Caramel, cardboard and grainy aroma. Flavor was corny, slightly sweet with notes of cardboard, but extremely watery anyway. Finish was slightly sweet, this time from some reason there was no cardboard. Crap for real, they made the right thing to test it before failing on the market!

Bottle @ Beer Mug in Ulan Ude. Black but barely any head. You know why it’s black? Someone squeezed out a Sharpie marker into a bottle! A frightening chemical stew simmers in here, offensive to nose and body. Medicinal in a bad way. Thin and oily. The chemicals mellow out, and a touch of sugar and licorice come out. But still smells like a hospital.
