BOBANDDOUG (61), Belleville, Illinois, USA Sep 7, 2007 Nice, dark amber pour. Foamy, fairly long head, and decent aroma. Nice and sweet, kind of light compared to other dopplebocks, such as Celebrator. very easy to drink, with a slight, sweet, faint alcohol finish.
I am a Celebrator fan, but, this one might be a bit easier to drink more than one of...both good, and bad, I guess! Fine example of a "lighter" dopple. if you will. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 05/05/2005

JK (2945), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Aug 22, 2007 This is an excellent doppelbock and comparable to Celebrator. Surprisingly tall and thick head on this heavy brown beer. Aroma is primarily sweet malt, but there is also smoke and light caramel. Surprisingly thick, sweet and heavy, a great mouthfeel and great flavor. Sweet, but also very light smoke character. Some caramel. I expected a solid beer but this far exceeded by expectations. BDR (2139), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Aug 18, 2007 Brown with massive creamy head. almost a barrel aged oak taste to it - sweet dark fruits and light caramel character. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Aug 18, 2007 Sampled during Cellar’s Wine & Spirits Friday evening beer tasting in St Paul, MN. Pours a dark maroon amber brew with a thick off-white head that slowly dissolves and leaves behind a off-white head and good lacing. Aroma of sweet dark roasted caramel malt, brown sugar, prune juice, and some bitter sweet flowery hops. Taste is smooth, creamy with a rich caramel malt flavor. Finish is just as smooth as its flavor with semi-sweet fruit aftertaste that is quite relaxing and filling. csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Jul 31, 2007 16oz bottle served in a weizen glass. Dark amber color with a smallish head. Malty, caramel, light roast, mildly earthy, chalk? Taste up front is malty with notes of milk chocolate and roast followed by dark caramel, earthy hops, dark fruits, and cream. The finish is lingering dark caramel (almost toffee like). The finish seems balanced with some light alcohol warmth. TBone (6675), Pori, Finland Jul 28, 2007 Bottled (BB 05/2008)
Dark ruby color, small off-white head. Dark roasted aroma with dark fruits (plums) and hints of metal. Full-bodied. Sweetish: caramel, plums, hints of licorice and cream liquer - all typical elements of good doppelbocks, but this has less licorice and roastyness than eg. Ayinger. Alcohol is covered by sweetness, too. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Jul 26, 2007 A very malty grassy aroma that I don’t like. Taste is sweet, too much so and is mostly malty throughout. Starts out nice, but the finish is just way too sweet for me.
