johndoughty (2150), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Jul 15, 2007 Black and pored with a medium head.No carbonation and a very pleasing full body. Quite malty with some fruitiness.
An excellent Dopplebock. Carl99Fan (186), Suwanee, Georgia, USA Jul 6, 2007 Pours a Coca-Cola brown. Creamy palate. Sweet, malty flavor. Somewhat fruity aspect, perhaps plum and cherry. Alcohol well hidden. Very slight, late on the palate, roasted flavor. Strong malty aroma with scent of dark fruits. Don’t know what took me so long to try this DBock. tomciccateri (496), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Jul 4, 2007 Bottle pours an opaque brown. Medium-bodied, big malty aroma & flavor. Clean, nice. Late alcohol. omhper (12153), Stockholm, Sweden Jul 4, 2007 Bottled. Mahogany colour, clear, brief head. Sweet and bready with rounded sticky mouthfeel. Flavours of syrupy dough, red apples, molasses and cardamom. Drier finish with a touch of metal. Being strangelyunrefined for a German beer it fails to lift. I guess Oetker takeovers are bad news for the quality... oh6gdx (8795), Vasa, Finland Jul 1, 2007 Bottled (Thanks DerDoppelbock). Reddish amber colour, medium head, which vanishes quite fast. Aroma is big time caramel malts and some slight alcoholic kick. Flavour is malt, some slight alcohol in background.
