Bottled. Dark brown colour. Off-white head. Heavy malt aroma with hints of dusty smoke and a great deal of almond paste and chocolate. Superbly malty flavour backbone with pleasant sweetness without being sticky. Very well balanced doppelbock.

Re-rate 11/19/07: Bottle. Dark brown with a short-lasting small beige head. Dark malts aroma with caramel, some roastiness and chocolate and hints of alcohol. Sweet malty flavor with caramel and some bread. A caramelly sweet finish with hints of herbal hops. Medium-bodied. Not a great doppelbock, but very decent. 7/3/7/3/14=3.4

Draught. Dark brown color with a light brown head. Malty aroma with some roast and caramel. Firm maltiness in the flavor, light roastiness. A rather full body. 6/4/7/3/14=3.4

Pours a dark chestnut brown with a big pale tan head. Aroma is earthy, like mushrooms, along with chocolate and hop flowers. Taste is a buttery sweet toasted malt, brown sugar, chocolate, and some coffee. Some hop bitterness appears in the back. Not much alcohol presence either. Pretty decent stuff.

Pint Bottle $2.49 Binny’s Orland I’ve really been in the mood for some hearty doppelbocks lately. Hope this satisfies my craving for the night. Wow...Looks good from the start. Pours a beautiful chestnut brown into my pilsner glass with all sorts of tiny carbonation rising. A tan 2 finger head formed on the pour that slowly faded to 1 finger of rocky frothiness. Small sticky thin patches of lacing form after each drink. This beer is loaded with great aromas. There’s a fruity sweetness. Warm banana bread starts things off. After the hints of banana bread wonderful smelling maltiness takes over. Sweet dough, mild nutiness, mild milk chocolate and a perfect toasted grain aroma. This stuff smells like a meal. Like a meal you would want on a chilly night. Smells wonderful but could be slightly more pronounced. Every bit of the smell comes out to show it’s true self in the flavor. Banana bread starts things off again there is even a small amount of tartness you encounter when eating a banana. When the beer makes it’s way to mid-palate the sweet doughiness moves in along with the nuttiness and milk chocolate. Sweet toffee shows up on the swallow after some warming. Creamy milk smoothness. Zero alcohol in the flavor. Excellent! Medium bodied but velvety smooth. The smoothness is unbelievable. Carbonation is there pushing things through but is undetectable. Very nice. Drinkability is outstanding. If this beer wasn’t so much like a meal, which it’s meant to be, it would get the perfect score for drinkability. I think it would be too filling to drink all night long. I do find myself drinking this one pretty quickly though. Tucher Bajuvator is an outstanding doppelbock and one that will be in stock at my house for the rest of the winter. An excellent beer at an excellent price. Hard to beat. This definately satisfied my craving for the night. 2/13/07

Mahogany pour rapidly losing its head. Licorice, rye bread, raisins and honey in the nose. A medicinal sniff of honey and lemon Lockets. Fruitcake malty with a dryish licorice bitterness in the finish. A touch of Marmite. Completely forgot the ABV- slips down like a much weaker beer. Drinkable enough but ultimately lacking depth and body for a beer of its strength.

Bottle. The strongest aroma from this beer was dried fruit of some sort, mostly raisin. As it warmed I noticed roasted caramel, dough, with hints of wood, smoke, spice and maybe a little cola. The head was almost non existing but what was there had good lacing. Color is a clear dark brown. Taste is moderately sweet and just a bit sour to start and finishes lightly sweet and bitter. It’s medium bodied with an oily texture with a carbonation between soft and lively. It finishes a little astringent and alcoholic. Not great but tastey.

Not my favorite style. This has its merits. I couldnt get much aroma out of it. Tasted of light apples, some caramel, and lingering sourness. Nice palette, nothing harsh or over the top in flavors, finishes smoothe.
