slimchill (773), Austin, Texas, USA Apr 25, 2007 Bottle. Pours a deep amber with minimal head. Very nice estery aroma. Caramel and bananas, both of which come across in the flavor. Well balanced leaning toward the sweet side. Full bodied and delicious. Very nice doppel. raymondwave (867), Finland Apr 1, 2007 Pours with almost no head at all. Sweet maltiness, raisins, fruits, liqourice. Smooth, but very little carbonation. A little bland overall. Not the best doppelbock I’ve had. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA Feb 14, 2007 Light caramel malt scents from a dark brown body with red highlights. Very, very creamy mouthfeel. Sweet malt and some diacetyl tastes--probably a little out of date--but not yet ruined. Would like to have a fresh sample to compare. spector (906), Lancaster, Ohio, USA Feb 14, 2007 Dark fruits and some sweet malt in the aroma.Pours a deep mahogany with a slight tan head.Dark fruits and light malt stand out in the flavor.Very smooth mouthfeel with some dark fruits and alcohol in the finish. Jwasciuk (194), Lowell, Michigan, USA Feb 5, 2007 pours clear dark brown with a avg creamy brown head. Aroma is nice, cookies, grain, toasted malts and carmel, with grape and apple esters. Flavor starts sweet, carmel and toasted malts finishes sweet also with a short, semi-clean finish. Medium bodied, watery and softly carbonated, Really a nice bier, especially for the low price. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Dec 28, 2006 Bottle pours a nice dark brown with a fair tan head that stays for a short time then fades and leaves lacing on the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, slight roast, some raisin, molasses, and caramel. Flavor is dark chocolate sweetness upfront, caramel, and some raisin, molasses, and even a bit of prune. Good thick body but it does tend to lean towards the syrupy side. Smooth low with low carbonation.. really not bad at all..
