| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 28, 2006 Bottle pours a nice dark brown with a fair tan head that stays for a short time then fades and leaves lacing on the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, slight roast, some raisin, molasses, and caramel. Flavor is dark chocolate sweetness upfront, caramel, and some raisin, molasses, and even a bit of prune. Good thick body but it does tend to lean towards the syrupy side. Smooth low with low carbonation.. really not bad at all.. JorisPPattyn (5163), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 26, 2006 Deep dark beautiful chestnut colour with a firm, greyish yellow-crème head. Chocolate, dark leaves, malty, cedarwood (as pencil scrapings). Not very remarkable. Burnt/roasted notes on a rather uniformly sweet underlying flavour. Bit like crème brulée burnt sugar flavour; some chocolate and overripe, flat plums lurking in the background. Well bodied without becoming syrupy or thick. This is good: one can still drink this as a beer. There’s even a little tartness in the end. A bit flat, typical Grossbrauerei type Doppelbock, but the palate actually saves a lot. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 17, 2006 Clear deep reddy brown with a thin creamy off-white head, sweet caramely aroma and a malty burnt sugar taste. cheapdark (2015), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Nov 29, 2006 Aroma is a little sweet & yeasty. Pours dark transparent brown. Initial tasty flavor that melds to slight bitterness. Finish lingers with a little rough alcohol. Yes, a typical doppelbock but not particularly enjoyable. However, this is smoother and better than Celebrator. xav33 (313), Midland, MI, Michigan, USA

Half Liter bottle
Medium pour in a weizen glass
Notched 2,4 and 16, bujavator 11/06
Poured dark ruddy brown with a huge frothy somewhat lasting dimly brown head with no lacing.
Smelt of moderate raisins, roast, molasses.
Taste was upfront strong sweet caramel and dried fruits, like figs, prunes or raisins with light roast followed by a moderate bittersweet dark chocolate and more dried fruit, and some spicy accents on an average length finish. Palate was medium to full bodied, creamy, softly carbonated and lightly astringent.
Overall, a doppelbock with lots of good strong interesting flavors. Solid. kimcgolf (828), Dacula, Georgia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 13, 2006 Poured to a drak brown with reddish tint, and a tan head that lingered well and left good lacing. Aroma was malty sweet molasses, with hints of toffee, chocolate and roasted nuts. I could tell that this was probably not going to be my favorite. Flavor was dominated by the sweet molasses, and the consistency was syrupy thick. Finish was the same as you would expect from a spoonful of syrup. This beer was not particularly bad, just a little too sweet and thick for my liking. gilby (23), Stuttgart, Germany
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 4, 2006 Nice and strong, reminding me more of wine than a doppelbock in the aftertaste. quite good, complexity of palate present. Not my favorite style but a good one, recommended try. ehhdayton (1113), USA
