Pours dark orange, brown with white, thin head that laces the glass. The aroma is sweet - caramel, sugar, and toasted bread. The flavor is also sweet, with hints of fruit, slight bitterness, and molasses. Mouthfeel is very nice and the finish is smooth.

Bottle. Pours dark brown/black with a moderate amount of light beige head. Aroma is malty and sweet, with dark fruits and brown sugar. Flavor is moderately sweet and malty, although just slightly thin. Velvety mouthfeel and a smooth finish. Quite good, but misses out on great.

(16 oz. bottle via trade with Degarth, thanks Joe!) Pours dark tea brown with about 1/2’’ of biege head that recedes to about 1/8" and stays. Aroma of molasses, raisins and brown sugar. Mouthfeel smooth but also dryish and fizzy. Nice lacing. Flavor is moderately sweet brown sugar maltiness with a touch of cherry in the finish. Also has that hint of smokiness in the finish like Optimator that I love. Flavor is also rather thin though - not enough there to make this a really good doppel.

Deep brown color with nice mahogany highlights. Tan head quickly faded away but leaves nice lacing. Aroma is nutty and sweet. More sweet malt flavor. Smooth body. Easy to drink and a very nice beer, but not quite up there with the best in the category.

pint bottle - Dark brown with a thin head and a substantial malty aroma. This beer is full bodied with light carbonation for a soft, smooth mouthfeel. The malts dominate the flavor, but aren’t overdone. The finish is lightly bitter and rather nice though there is some lingering alcohol. As another recent reviewer said, perhaps this beer is kind of one dimensional. I found it very enjoyable nonetheless.

Brown body, big bubbled beige head, with an oily like shine; Very pleasant, a little caramel like nose, velvet soft but quite 1-dimensional; The liquid beer is very softly textured in itself, but the carbonation of which there is only very little is a bit sharp, balanced but a bit neutral; Quite long pleasant soft finish, a little late bitterness and a little complexity in the aroma. Very pleasant, very drinkable but way to simple.

Dark with a thin head. Rich malt aroma, with a hint of chocolate and raisins. Heavy and thick with a sweet finish. A bit of licorice in the mix.
