jrob21 (1252), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 7, 2006 At taste of the highlands. Pretty big beer. A little quick finishing for a doppel bock. Dark amber color and sweet, malty flavor. A slightly bitter/tart finish. My favorites in this category are a little more full bodied and complex but this was still good. shrubber85 (2833), Wallhalben, Germany Apr 28, 2006 Bottle. Strong prune malt aroma with vinegar notes. Very dark brown with no head. Slightly sweet prune/plum and roasted malt flavor - light astringent/tart finish. A nice tasting light doppelbock but probably too weak for some. maeib (4677), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Apr 2, 2006 Bottle. A dark brown beer with a reddy purple shine, and hardly any head. The aroma is fruity and oily with caramel notes. The taste is nice and sweet malty with reasonable alcohol and dark fruits such as plum and prune. Not a World class doppelbock but still very nice. emodx (10), Panama City, Florida, USA Mar 31, 2006 Yawn... This is a tired excuse for a bock. Sure it is toasted, but also metallic. A step up from Amber Bock, but not by much. Something to note, my label is totally different. Perhaps a different beer by the same name is sent to the states.
Emo Oycpff (93), USA Mar 29, 2006 Poors a near black with creamy brown head. Has a nice malty/nutty flavor with a light smokey finish SSSteve (2047), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Mar 29, 2006 toasted chocolate malt aroma. dark amber and a small off-white head. toasty sweet malt flavor. alcohol shows up a bit on the palate. medium bodied. best yet from these guys. Tmoney99 (4660), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Mar 28, 2006 Bottle. Poured dark brown with a moderate light brown head that diminished slowly. Good caramel toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Good well balanced sweet malty flavor with a moderate smooth finish. Good doppelbock. roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 23, 2006 Pours a nice clear brown color with a very large amount of froathy tan head. Aroma is berries, caramel, nuts, and a slight lemo hay undertone. Flavor is berries, slightly spicey caramel malt then a warm bitter alcohol finish. Overall, i greatly enjoyed this doppelbock. perfect winter brew.
