mongkut4 (132), Florida, USA Mar 22, 2006 I’m currently on a German dark kick. After several schwarzbiers, bocks, and dopplebocks I am very happy to find this beer. Yummy is probably not descriptive enough so I guess I’ll stick with full bodied with a rich malty flavor. I’m not much into the "coffee notes" or "cinnamon tones" descriptiveness of malt beverage intelligentsia so I’ll suffice to say this is an excellent example of what a dopple should be. jaymobrown (1344), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 20, 2006 Dark cola color. Fizzy. Small white head. Clean taste. Really barkish, malt nose. Not really much of a taste. Slightly sweet. Bubbly. Hmm... Nice though. Sticks to the lips. I think this is very solid. I’d pick this up with some other German beers and have a good night. ultraspank (866), Dublin, Ohio, USA Mar 16, 2006 Had one of these last night from the bottle. The nose is one of perfection with notes of caramel, berries, wheat, bananas, toffee and candy. Pours a dark copper with ruby highlights. The lovely cascade transforms into a moderate tan frothy head that is mostly diminishing, leaving behind not a trace of lace. The brew is warm and spicy up front, with light acidity and moderate complexity. The huge finish is roasted coffee. The full body is dry and soft. rebelbrewer (125), Lithonia, Georgia, USA Mar 7, 2006 This has a very malty aroma. It is a deep amber color and poured up with about a quarter inch of off white white creamy head that lasted a good while. The taste matches the smell with a molasses front a balanced middle and a surprisingly clean finish. My glass is sticky and now empty. Good thing I have another pint bottle of this. Now the 2nd bottle yielded an inch worth’s of head which did die down quickly to that ¼ inch. Everything else was the same. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Mar 3, 2006 Pour is a nice looking red with a tan head. Aroma is malts, malts and more malts. Flavor is more of the same with a nice dark fruit aftertaste. Not the best rep of the style by a long shot but its pretty tasty and esy drinking. A plus to the brew is its low price , mine only cost $2 for a 18oz. JohnnyOS (646), Golden, Wisconsin, USA Mar 3, 2006 Pours a dark muddy amber color with light tan head that fades quickly. Aroma of caramel, nutty malts, toffee, and dates. Full bodied with a sweet carmel malt and nut flavor. Definitely worth the purchase! BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Mar 2, 2006 Pint bottle. Pours a fizzy, nutty brown with a medium frothy tan head and spotty lacing. Aroma is caramel, nutty malt (medium roast, meal, cookie), fruit (plum, grape, apple) and toffee. Malty caramel and nutty flavor, no acidity, low bitterness, medium sweetness with a metallic finish. Medium and creamy body, slight fizzy palate that finishes somewhat dry. LilKem (1210), Marietta, Ohio, USA Feb 15, 2006 I liked this one a lot more than expected. Had some nice malts and a little mellow cocoa thing going on. Some hints of some apricot and some prunes and maybe a little vanilla extract
