HopsOrDie (687), New Lenox, Illinois, USA Mar 30, 2005 Pours a light brown with a big frothy head. Aroma is very strong in dark fruit/raisin with some chocolate. Flavor is strong in a grapey/raisiny flavor. ecbeerguy (86), East Chicago, Indiana, USA Mar 26, 2005 Real frothy head from the bottle. Very full aroma, sweet smelling. Chocolate. Kinda rich, but not thick. Each drink brings out more of the chocolate. Real smooth. presario (2955), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Mar 21, 2005 Dark brown with ruby highlights. Good starting head but sinks very quickly. Light chocolate and prune aroma. Flavour-wise one of the most chocolatey beers that I have ever had. Mellows as you get used to it but chocolate is the dominate flavour. TheBeerGod (3143), Newport News, Virginia, USA Mar 15, 2005 Bottle. Clear reddish brown. Tall frothy brown head. Nose is exquisite caramel, rich malts, light brown sugar and light chocolate. Taste is sweet malts, light chocolate, caramel and light roasty notes. Rich taste. Body is leaning towards being chewy with moderate carbonation and some velvety notes. Finish is more caramel and sweet malts with light chocolate and some grains. Nice doppel! Aldrighetti (162), Coltura, Italy Mar 12, 2005 (Bottle) Brown coloured, creamy yellowish head. Toasted aroma, malty, light chocolate, coffee aroma. Sweet taste, light bitter finish, full bodied. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Mar 11, 2005 Red brown bock with a moka head. Light sweet malt with prunes and light alcohol. Sweet malty with light spiced notes and some salty points in finish. Jan. 2005. IPFreely (1470), Lewiston, New York, USA Mar 10, 2005 Dark amber color, spongy tan head. Certainly sweet, brown sugar, some dark fruit, a touch of honey. Very malty, actually a little one-dimensional. Medium bodied, no alcohol prescence but it’s really not all that strong. Pretty pleasant but the whole 500ml gets a little tiring. yayforbeer (641), Orange Park, Florida, USA Feb 28, 2005 Updated: Mar 1, 2005500ml. Great looking clear dark brown pour with a nice creamy tan head. Aroma is sweet dark malts and yeast. Flavor is full and rich, sweet malts and dark fruit, bown sugar. Alcohol well hidden. Smooth, pleasant, and satisfying. Not quite as awesome as Celebrator, but an excellent dopplebock, about on a par with Optimator.
