argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA Oct 26, 2004 Cola body topped by large tan head that mostly goes away. Aroma is sweet, brown sugar, caramel, slight burnt. Taste is quite sweet, caramel, prune, light alcohol. Watery medium-full body. Not bad, but not much to bring you back for more. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Oct 26, 2004 This poured a deep reddish-brown color with a respectable fizzy light brown head. Sweet malty aroma. It delivers a big mouthful of rich, sweet caramel malty flavors. Slides down the throat very smoothly and leaves you with a sticky sweet finish. SpringsLicker (2041), Tennessee, USA Sep 8, 2004 Brown with red highlights under a creamy off white head.
Malty aroma.
Flavor is malty and sweet but body is thin and somewhat lacking.
Average Doppelbock. mkobes (2103), paramus, New Jersey, USA Aug 31, 2004 Bottle at Andy’s. Dark brown in color with a fluffy tan head. Malty caramel aroma. Roasty. Taste is sweet and malty. I get raisins too. The alcohol is there, but its not overpowering. Enjoyable. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 28, 2004 Dark brown with mahogany tints, medium off white head, almost tannish. Some lace. Caramel aromas with other sweet malts. Roast malts. Raisins. Light bittering hops. Hops are more prevelant in the flavor. The sweet caramel and roast are there as well as the raisins. Alcohol comes out. Heavy body, slightly chewy finishing out with sweet malts and alcohol. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Aug 27, 2004 (Bottle) Pours a cloudy brownish color with an average-sized creamy light brown head. Aromas of molasses, caramel, roasted nuts, and malt. Flavors of sweet caramel malt and cola. Long flavor duration. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA Aug 11, 2004 From the bottle at Yeoman’s Road Pub in Tampa.
Smells roasty and malty,
Dark amber in color.
Sweet sugared raisins and caramel with a little bit of alcohol in the finish.
Not quite as lager feeling in the mouth as some Dopplebocks,
Pretty decent. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Aug 9, 2004 Pours a very dark maroon color with a tall off-white head that stays forever. Giving off an aroma of sweet maltiness from the caramel and then an amazing smoothness to the rich malty taste, capped off by just the faintest bitterness to make this brew be able to be imbibed to its fullest. Sweet roastiness with a good creaminess make this brew a great doppelbock.
