Giving off an aroma of sweet maltiness from the caramel and then an amazing smoothness to the rich malty taste, capped off by just the faintest bitterness to make this brew be able to be imbibed to its fullest. Sweet roastiness with a good creaminess make this brew a great doppelbock. Mads Langtved (2246), Copenhagen K, Denmark
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 2, 2004 Malty and sweet. A classic example of the mighty Doppelbock style. Alcohol is in accordance with the style quite absent. ontario102 (794), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 31, 2004 Pours with a large head; it has a full, caramelly aroma with some notes of brown sugar and molasses, maybe some prune juice and dough; flavor if full, rich and creamy, almost cloying sweetness offset with nice, soft black carafa bitterness in the end; not overly balanced, but smooth and pretty good; maybe a little too sweet. sloth (1662), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 31, 2004 Large light brown head, creamy looking, good retention and a minor lace. Clear brown, ruby red hued brew. Bready malty sweet nose, pleasent graininess. Medium body, good continuity, creamy. Sweet malt, hint of chocolate with a fresh nuttiness, grainyness and a bit of roast. Finish is medium sweet with faint vinous notes. BückDich (4830), McCall, Idaho, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 29, 2004 Very dark mahogany ruby colored with a nice thick off-white head and no lacing components. The aroma is malty with some light fruity plum notes and hints of light hop, sweet nuts and alcohol. The flavor is sweet and nutty with some moderate alcohol taste and tons of caramel(ized) malts and fruityness. The finish is full bodied but around the middle for attenuation for doppelbocks, not too sweet, fairly balanced. Good doppelbock, to style but still expected. Ungstrup (15105), Frederiksberg, Denmark

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 23, 2004 Aroma of roasted malts (caramel). Clear, brown coloured with an off-white frothy and lasting head. Looks good. Taste is sweet, malty (burned, caramel and coffee), sugar, some bitterness. Quite alcoholic and sticky mouthfeel; bit sharp. Not great not bad. A very typical 3 rating. Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark
