conor23 (110), Elgin, Illinois, USA Jan 22, 2008 Sweet fruity aroma with strong alcohol. Dark red/brown color, looks like prune juice. Taste is a nice strong classic doppelbock flavor, sweet and fruity with hints of prune and raisin. Nice smooth finish with alcohol not too prominent and a nice amount of carbonation. This beer is a nice balanced example of this variety, where many can get too sweet or have an overpowering alchohol taste. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Jan 21, 2008 Aromas of brown sugar, caramel, medjool date, and sweet porridge. Color is also medjool date, wholly opaque. the thick head it pours with disappears almost instantly. Tastes like oatmeal raisin cookie or fruit bread with an abundance of currant, date, prune, hint of spice, and some alcohol in the finish. Soft but slightly prickly mouthfeel and a thin body for a DB. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Jan 19, 2008 Almost opaque brown pour with a very thin off-white head. Big malty nose with a touch of fruitiness, maybe a bit of cherries and banana. Rich malty flavor, sweet and almost tangy fruit complexity. Very nice. Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England Jan 12, 2008 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Deep brown coloured doppelbock with a huge tan head. Sweet aroma of bananas. Malty with lots of caramel.
