With a mild malt aroma, this beer starts slightly fizzy with roasted caramel notes and a smooth finish. The head left a nice lacing. This is not a bad Doppelbock, but there are better ones out there. You can taste the alcohol in this brew after only a few sips. Braudog (3789), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 30, 2004 Shiny auburn color with big head between white and tan. Sugary sweet aroma. Smooth on the tongue, with a mellow sweet start, settling into a tart roasted grape flavor. Only for the hearty beer drinkers. badgerben (3610), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 14, 2005 Brown color with a medium head. Aromas of malt and toasted bread. It’s a bitter and dry doppelbock, which surprised me. More malt with an almost bacon-esque finish. The alcohol certainly rears its head. This was a nice treat! Aroma not striking but there were some dark molasses. Taste initially was of black treacle and alcohol this tasted a bit rough around the edges some prunes, fine beer but not the best of this style. rickgordon (3358), Göteborg, Sweden

Dark brown colour. Off-white head. Heavy malt aroma with hints of dusty smoke and a great deal of almond paste and chocolate. Superbly malty flavour backbone with pleasant sweetness without being sticky. Very well balanced doppelbock. BeerandBlues2 (3237), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

Aroma is caramel, nutty malt (medium roast, meal, cookie), fruit (plum, grape, apple) and toffee. Malty caramel and nutty flavor, no acidity, low bitterness, medium sweetness with a metallic finish. Medium and creamy body, slight fizzy palate that finishes somewhat dry. hotstuff (3183), Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 26, 2003 This brew poured a tan head with small-medium bubbles. The lacing was sparse on the sides of my mug. It had a red-amber body. It had a sweet aroma to it. It had a smooth taste and flavor. There was no bitterness noted with this brew. Not the best Dopplebock that I have had so far, but not the worst either.
