A German Style brown ale brewed with dark, rich Belgian specialty malts and domestic whole hops. The alt will have a dark copper color and will have a slightly fruity, bittersweet flavor. It is a beer for the more adventurous, for people with an appreciation for a beer with a rich malt character and a balanced hop finish.

From a bottle poured a copper/brown with a nice head. Nice bitterness to end, not particularly nutty. Nothing special. As a side note, if you get the 12 oz bottle it has one of the worst indistinguishable labels I have ever seen. Use better art please!

Bottle. Brown, red appearance. Medium off-white head. Mild caramel malt in aroma. Flavor similar, light roastiness in finish. Could use a little more umph.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a somewhat hazy copper color with a decent off-white head. Pleasant aroma of malt and yeast. The taste initially was very weak, almost washed out. I actually came close to pouring this one down the drain. As it warmed a bit in the glass (since I didnít care for it initially I wasnít drinking it particularly quickly), the flavors became a bit more pronounced, although still weak. Watery body.

poured a brown slightly opaque color with a off white had which had some retention aroma was a mix of sweet malts, nuts, and a touch of pine. Taste was initally sweet with an caramel/nut taste hops finished it out with a decent bitter kick. Yet it Seemed over carbonated.

This alt pours a deep brown color from a 1oz bottle. Large sized white foamy head. Aroma is caramel, a touch earthy and a little bit of orange. A medium bodied alt. Malts are caramel and slightly sweet. Hops are earthy, a touch sour and herbal. Nice balance. Smooth taste. It has a little too much of the herbal hops thing going on though. Its kind of muddies up the flavor a little. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bottle. Interesting alt, but a bit weak on all fronts. The aroma was nothing special. Nice appearance, though, of a translucent reddish-brown. Flavor was missing a lot of character (esp. in the malts), and had an odd finish. Very watery, wet palate. Overall, about average. Keep working on this one Tuckerman!

Bottle. Well, this is not an Altbier. I grew up in Duesseldorf and hence know what an Altbier is supposed to taste like. This one is not it: it is overhopped and way too harsh in the finish remining me of cough syrup at that point. It pours with the right color, has aromas of malt, bread and dough. But it finishes with a harsh bitterness and lacks any of the malty sweetness. Even if I forget that it is supposed to be an Alt I did not enjoy it much due to its harsh lingering finish.

12 oz. bottle - Beer of the Month. Drank 5/25/06. Krausened - now that I know what that means. Semi cloudy. Mostly dark amber. Some brown in there, but really nice and red when held to the light. Nice, creamy ~1cm. off-white / light tan head. Nice, thick layer of foam. Very nice malty, spicy aroma. Little bit of burnt / roasted character. Mostly the spicy yeast German thing. Smells very similar to the one other alt Iíve had. I like it. Not terribly strong though, which Iím thinking is characteristic of this style. Flavor - bitter as it hits your mouth. Some malty character - bready, some spiciness near the end and a little bit of that "celery" character that I find in some beers (warm, draft fat tire). Kind of a fizzy type flavor. Some complexity, but not a lot of flavors I like. Nothing very strong. Palate - light to medium. Feels lighter than it is b/c of a high level of carb. Really light and fizzy on the tongue. I was really excited about this beer and ended up pretty disappointed. I was intrigued by the small brewery, cool ski-related label, and authentic and not-so-common style. I really enjoyed the other Alt I had and looked forward to exploring Alts more. This one is different, and a little interesting, but just not great. Could be sweeter. And I just donít know about this whole celery thing I get. Donít know if itís yeast or what, but Iíve had it in a few beers and donít like it.

Pours cloudy dark amber with white lingering head. Aroma is sweet malt with pepper in the background. Taste starts with the malt but ends with sour hops. Smooth swallow. Would like a more pronounced roasted malt taste before the sour hops.

The bodyís a deep chestnut color and the head is beige and creamy. Nice aroma of lightly roasted malt, caramel, nuts, and a dash of juicy fruits. It delivers a spicy, peppery feeling on the tongue. The flavor is toast and caramel with a solid balance of herbal hop tastes. This would be a regular session brew for me if it was available in the Chicago area.
