harlequinn (2746), Tacoma, Washington, USA Mar 13, 2006 A rich golden ale, with a small frothy head. This has a very big malt character, but the hop character is rather bitter, with a small bit of astrigency, mouthfeel could have a bit more depth. A small beer in disguise DA (2423), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Mar 30, 2005 Pours deep gold with a medium white head. This small ale was way better than any other small beer i’ve had in the past. Much more maltiness up front and actually having some good body to the beer. Finish is bitter and hoppy. I was expecting a lot less body and malt for a small beer and this is better than many company’s pales. Murphy (1759), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Feb 14, 2004 A strange concoction made from the run off of their barleywine. Dull, dark yellow color. Taste is quite bitter and very dry. Hints of alcohol, but this adds to the beer rather than detracts. A beer worth another evaulation and another pint.
