’East India Pale Ale’ was first brewed in England last century for the colonies East of India such as New Zealand and Australia. The beer was unpasteurised and secondary fermentation occured in the bottle during the long journey. Thirsty settlers loved its natural effervescent character and we reckon it still hits the spot today.
Brewer’s Comment: This fine ale is a thoroughly refreshing beer with a light palate best suited to beaches, barbecues and all beer related occasions.
Serving Suggestions: Serve lightly chilled on its own or with any manner of barbecued meats. At restaurants, or when trying to impress others, try and use a glass. Do not mix with salad.
Cellaring: Yeah right!

This is my favourite mass produced beer from my home country, New Zealand, which is why I’m giving it full marks though most of people are a little right in saying that it is not the finest beer in the world. Great for the sun, not too hoppy, rather amber in colour, smells pretty damn good, tastes the same and the marketing is the best I’ve ever seen, ever!

Tasted 3/2/2014. Poured a clear amber with a thin white collar. Laced poorly. Carbonation low to medium. Aroma subtly of sweet malt with no real hops. Taste malt, no bitterness, bland. Light body. Smooth finish. Bland.

Can shared by Cuso. Aroma is sourish and astringent. Disgusting. Soapy. Taste is sweet sugary, true malinovka.

Can shared by cuso, many thanks! Oh boy! Low flavored malty water. Nothing common with a beer. Just flavored water.

Low hop aroma of stale leaves / vegetables. Malt is tiny, caramel, simple. Medium-light body, sweet, lightly chewy. Fizzy carbonation, copper pennies, apple / acetaldehyde. An amber ale using the name IPA

On tap. New Zealand holiday 2011-12. Old notes. The aroma is slightly grainy, not much there. Clear, copper coloured with an off-white head. The taste is vaguely bitter, bland. Very light citric, hint of caramel. Quite some carbonation. Definately not an IPA. In my notes it said West India Pale Ale. Guess that’s a mistake. :-)

Aroma: bread malts. Appearance: amber, medium thin head. Taste: slight bitterness. Palate: lively carbonation, sweet notes appearing, watery. Overall: no idea why they call this an IPA - more a boring lager. Can from Drinks of the World Zurich HB, Switzerland.

Tui East India Pale Ale in a 330ml bottle purchased and consumed in NZ; BB dated July 2014; 4.0% ABV Excellent clarity in this deep amber ale. Both flavor and aroma are rather light, especially the aroma. This is no IPA; not even a pale ale in terms of hops. More like a tasty and well-balanced, but light amber beer. Feel: Light+ body with medium carbonation. Smooth and soft. Clean finish. O: recommended as a low cost, highly drinkable beer, but far more like an amber than an IPA.

I’m VERY conflicted about this beer. It is most definitely not an IPA, not even close. Because of this it deserves its low rating. BUT, if it was labelled as a brown ale or maybe a dunkel its rating may be a touch higher. In truth I enjoyed this beer more because it is not an IPA. Poured red-amber with slight off-white head that lasted poorly. Faint aroma of lager grains with sweet malts.Tastes like a malty lager, enjoyable, refreshing but not an IPA, pretty much no hop flavours at all. Light bodied, tight lively carbonation, short slightly sweet finish.
