Commercial Description:
’East India Pale Ale’ was first brewed in England last century for the colonies East of India such as New Zealand and Australia. The beer was unpasteurised and secondary fermentation occured in the bottle during the long journey. Thirsty settlers loved its natural effervescent character and we reckon it still hits the spot today.
Brewer’s Comment: This fine ale is a thoroughly refreshing beer with a light palate best suited to beaches, barbecues and all beer related occasions.
Serving Suggestions: Serve lightly chilled on its own or with any manner of barbecued meats. At restaurants, or when trying to impress others, try and use a glass. Do not mix with salad.
Cellaring: Yeah right!

[Bottle] shared by Skyview. Pours a coppery brown with almost no head. Aroma is pretty subdued with a touch of malt character and no hops. Are there hops in this one? I can’t smell or taste them. Flavor is just a bit malty and grainy. Not bad by any stretch, just utterly bland.

Thanks to skyview for sharing. Not much on the aroma but faint malts. Brown color with a little head. A malty body that resulted in a metallic finish.

Bottle - darkish amber. Thin off white head. High carbonation. Thin bodied. Like a pale lager but a little darker and with just a little extra hops giving it a slightly fruity taste. Not great.

(can shared by Skyview) Pours copper with a white head that sticks around. Aroma is only that of some dough, with no hops or anything else for that matter. The flavor is equally restrained and bland, with some dough, minerals, possible caramel, with a hint of tea-like bitterness on the finish but that could be a reach. Mouthfeel is medium to thin. With a name like East India Pale Ale, I assumed this beer would have at least a medium amount of hop character, but instead it was really quite bland and underwhelming.

Bottle 330ml. Not very interesting. Aroma has some malt, and also cardboard. Flavour is sweet, with no balancing bitterness, and average duration. Thin and watery in the palate. Amber colour, with a frothy thin head.

440mL can. Poured clear, light amber with a short, dense cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up toasted nutty notes and garbage water with a hint of sulphur.. this became rather offensive quickly. The flavor (yeah I drank it) found caramel, nutty notes, and molasses surrounded by touches of cola and tea around.. thankfully the garbage water left.. not much to it, but not all that bad. Light-bodied with lots of sharp, aggressive carbonation.. watery.. this was not good (or decent).

Can 33cl. @ home.
Clear medium amber color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, artificial brown sugar, light to moderate hoppy, hop extract. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, malt and hop extract. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20091126]

Received a 440 ml can from friends visiting from New Zealand. Pours a clear copper amber colored brew with a decent size off-white head that quickly dissipates and leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma of malty croissant bread dough, floral hops and a hint of caramel. Taste is medium bodied, sweet malt flavors of light caramel floral hops and some red beets. Finish is malty, a mild caramel aftertaste an no bitterness. Definitely NOT an India Pale Ale. An American dark lager is the correct style.
