| A Dunkel brewed by Tulip Restaurant Da Nang, Vietnam
| |
voota (754), Melbourne, Australia Mar 27, 2008 This tastes more like a stout than the Czech dark beer than the brewer insisted it was. Clear black with a small tan head. Mocha (vietnamese coffee perhaps?), liquorice and brown sugar make up the bulk of the aroma, not much in the way of hops as you’d expect... but after the amount they used in the Pilsener I was ready for anything. Lighter in body and drier than the pilsener too, which seems to bring forward a fair bit of coffee, maybe it dominates the flavours. A touch of bitterness comes through in a dry, roasty finish. OK, but nothing on the outstanding Pils.
