Rastacouere (5270), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Oct 28, 2007 Lasting beige head tops the straight black pour. Timid aroma shows lots of hesitation on the roast, trying its hand with a bit of fruitiness – mostly in the shape of blackberries. More bready than anything with more casual burnt notes than proper roast. The dryness never really shows up. Staling palate with a rather plasticy finish that is totally out of place. A poor example. Ironically, a note of leather can be imagined in there. Exaggerated carbonation feebly attempts to clean the mess up. hopdog (4568), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 12, 2005 On tap at the Tun Tavern in Atlantic City. Poured a dark brown with a red tint at the edges with a very small sized head. Aromas and tastes of chocolate and roasted malts. Both aromas and tastes on the lighter side. jcwattsrugger (3942), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Jul 21, 2005 Tun Tavern Leather-Neck Stout-on tap-pours a pitch black color. Taste is a strong roasty, a bit of alcohol comes through also. It’s an OK taste. Eyedrinkale (3105), Beer Town, New York, USA Jul 21, 2004 NJ Brewfest. Nothing great but drinkable. All the regular stout flavors, chocolate, coffee with roasted flavors. Nice bitterness and smooth, creamy taste. Dogbrick (2228), Columbus, Ohio, USA May 10, 2007 Sample at the brew pub: This brew is solid black with a medium thin and fizzy beige head that diminishes rapidly. Specks of lacing. Nutty, roasted malt aroma. Medium-bodied and smooth with roasted coffee and malt flavors that fall off pretty fast. There is a touch of chocolate as well but again it retreats quickly. The finish is on the thin side and feels soapy, with a lingering hops and coffee aftertaste. Average, and would be significantly better if it weren’t so timid.
