Medium body with a nice malt balance to the hops. Tastes pretty much exactly like New River Pale. They are from the same brewery, afterall. I think New River might be a little mop hop dominated, and therefore, better. But this is still damn good. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 25, 2005 Pours straw color with a nice white head that lasts all the way down the glass. Aroma is cascade hops just as you’d expect. The flavor is much less bitter than I’m used to in microbrewed pales. This one seems a little sweeter. Maybe more orange and honey in the flavor, but bitter on the backside with citrus and pine. Very drinkable. Light on the palate. Nothing extremely exciting with this one but a good tasting pale ale that I’d drink again. wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 19, 2005 Very hoppy Pale Ale. Aroma consisted of vegetables, citrus and graitfruit. Almost like an IPA. There are just many Pale Ales that are better. Descent brew though. bsawatzky (152), harrisonburg, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 17, 2005 a decent hoppy pale ale but lacks the complexity of the better ones. a decent low price option. JackLanders (55), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 12, 2005 This is a good ale for a fair price. There’s some citrus, some sweetness. It’s worth drinking. But I don’t understand at all why Michael Jackson raves about it so much. csbosox (1079), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 6, 2005 12oz, bottled on 2OCT, 2004. 46.7°. Served in a lager glass. Pours goldish orange with a 1 1/4" head due to my agressive pour. As the foam dies down it leaves rings around the glass. There are tears when you give the beer a swirl. Real nice hops aroma. My favorite hop, cascade, is right there in the mix with the piney and citrusy aromas. There is also honey in the aroma. The taste is hops driven, with an immeadiate piney hops flavor and bitter bite. When the first waves of hops wear off, there is a bit of citrusy sweetness, almost like orange blossom honey, before the hops regroup and hit you with a good amount of bitterness. As you drink it more, you become more acclimated to the hops and the malt profile comes through a little more, but you still get that huge pine tree flavor on your tongue, like you just chewed on some pine needles or licked some sap. Nice, satisfying mouthfeel. This is a great APA, too bad it isn’t sold in KS/MO. Cows9 (41), Dumont, New Jersey, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 30, 2005 Nice APAwith lots of IPA qualities. Pours a light amber color. Starts a bit malty. Hop flavor builds incrementely on the palate. A bit of caramel appears on the finish. Nice carbonation. Really good beer. tomhenderson (126), Carolinas area, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 26, 2005 12 oz bottle. A very pleasantly hopped APA. Much more hop flavor than aroma (disappointing!), with plenty of bitterness (and malt) on the back end. Thin collar laces the glass nicely. Overall a very good APA!
