Goodgrief (1144), Middletown, Delaware, USA Mar 10, 2008 July 2007 - An amber beer with no head. The aroma is very light with notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet with quite a lot of caramel, but also a good hop presence. joe1510 (501), Illinois, USA Feb 23, 2008 12oz Bottle

I get the opportunity to try this thanks to hopheed2113. Hop Pocket pours a moderately hazy polished copper. Large carbonation bubbles stream steadily to the surface. As I pour a finger and a half worth of bubbled soapy, dirty white head. As I drink patches of lacing here and there are left.
While there’s a good strong dose of caramel and biscuity malt throughout the hops seem to have taken a back seat. There’s a slight citric zestiness that struggles through just enough for a tease. Unfortunately, I like my IPAs on the big boisterous hoppy side of the spectrum but this one just doesn’t cut it.
Although the hoppiness is too subdued (although there is a respectable bitterness) I do like the direction it’s taken with zesty lemon rind. I don’t come across lemon citric hoppiness too often. The caramel and biscuity malts are still present throughout and make for a pleasant drinking IPA. The more I drink of this the more I like it. The flavors seem to come together pretty well. After teetering between a 3.5 an 4 I decided to give Hop Pocket the benefit of the doubt.
The body clocks in at medium but seems a little thin, everything considered. Finishes a touch drying and as I drink the bitterness seems to pile up creating a moderately bitter IPA.
Although this beer didn’t get the gretest scores throughout it’s an easy drinker none-the-less. One to drink during a game when a few are in order.
Hop Pocket isn’t a great IPA by any stretch of the imagination but it is a no brainer that is pretty easy to enjoy. This just doesn’t stand out enough to be anything special.
2/23/08 bitbucket (2026), Kirkland, Washington, USA Feb 11, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear light amber with a lacy white head. Perfume and candy nose. Light body and medium carbonation. The hops are sort of off-base for an APA. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Feb 11, 2008 12-oz. Medium amber with golden highlights. Big floral nose of tangerine. Light, fizzy body that’s way too dry. Light, airy finish. hadesvi (1), USA does not count Feb 1, 2008 delish. very good pale ale, fairly bitter with all the hops. The Ale has a good color and no after taste to speak of- drink one after two after three. tunneler (112), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jan 20, 2008 very solid pale ale, fairly bitter with all the hops of course. Somehow expected this to be darker in color based on the taste. dmtroyer (409), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 7, 2008 12oz. Orangeish brown in the glass. Aroma is hops and sweet malt. Body is medium with decent carbonation and malt well balanced by a decent hops presence. This is very drinkable, well-balanced, solid american pale ale. Too bad it is going away again, until they find a new brewer. Collint (450), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Jan 5, 2008 12 oz bottle. Aroma of flower and cascade. Defenetly has a bite to it. Decent beer, may buy again if out somewhere, otherwise not.
