instead of dessert after a big
meal - not because its sweet
(which its not) but because the
intense hopping seems to actually
settle the stomach. Better than
a hop tea for its herbal properties. TAR (2097), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA

Fresh hop juice was the first impression when taking a whiff. Then a raw hop leaf. the rest was just awesome. cheapdark (2050), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Sep 3, 2007 Sweet candy aroma with hints of floral hops in the background. Cloudy brownish iced tea appearance. Surprisingly less hoppy than I expected on the palate. Tho there is this mild grapefruit peel effect that is tempered by a chocolate feel that is indescribable. OK, now the bitter hop bite is beginning to manifest itself on the palate. Also has an artificial plastic taste about it. Good decent carbonation that is welcomed. The hop bitter bite keeps building near the end of the session and it ends with a finish that is a lingering bitter medicinal feel that hangs around for a while. I have seen it a few times but this was my first chance to try some. As luck would have it this beer was on the cask engine. It poured an orange-amber color with a small creamy white head that lingered for quite a while and produced some lacing. The aroma is sweet, flowery and hoppy. The flavor is sweet with a strong hop presence. The hops are strong but not overwhelming. The sweetness balances the hop bitterness quite nicely and the malts come on lightly on the finish. Now I just have to manage to get a hold of the bottle and regular draft. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 22, 2004 This pours a pretty copper colored beer with a bit of chill haze and a creamy head that could have lasted a little longer.
It has a wonderful citrus hop aroma with a good malt background.
The flavor is somewhat sweet with all of the bitterness saved for the finish. Dry palate with good body. This needed just a bit more hop flavor to match up with the hop aroma.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 31, 2003 Spicy, citric, resinous hop aroma, with an unusual addition that is somewhat reminiscent of sassafras(?), notes of orange, toasty, caramel maltiness, and the faintest hints of something like dry leaves and old wood. Medium golden-amber color, with a lasting, fine, creamy head and delicate lacing. A goodly amount of, spicy, floral and lightly citric hoppiness up front, becoming sweeter, almost sugary, then draws to a fresh, juicy, bitter grapefruit hop close. Light-moderate acidity, with a smooth, lightly creamy palate and medium body. Certainly one of your finer American Pale Ales. Cheers, Kinz. bitbucket (2036), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 11, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear light amber with a lacy white head. Perfume and candy nose. Light body and medium carbonation. The hops are sort of off-base for an APA. cbkschubert (2030), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA
