| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 28, 2003 I've anticipated drinking this beer for quite some time, given my penchant for enjoying hoppy ales. The color and aroma are a perfect golden hue and a crisp but not too floral bouquet. Bitter as the style would suggest, but different from the aggressive, west coast ales who rely soley on Cascade hops. The Mt. Hood makes a definite difference in body and bite. Overall, a good example of the American Pale Ale style.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 30, 2010 Bottle. Pours a clear, amber color with a minimally sized, frothy white head. Lacing is average. Aromas of grapefruit dominate, but also hints of citrus and spruce. Hops all over the place. Palate is very smooth with a nice bitter aftertaste. Also a bit sticky at the end. Taste is grapefruit again dominating, but then also having a strong spruce finish. Not much else for taste and this is a bitter beer. mwelsh13 (486), Maryland, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 24, 2010 It has been too long. Pours sparkling clear and copper. Thin head with a huge grassy nose. Light grain in the aroma as well. Good bitterness up front but not overkill. Malty body backs up the bitterness but does not overpower it. EXTREMELY clean flavor and body. Great beer Mr. Tupper. Thanks for bringing it back. Capa (1033), Yokosuka, Japan
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 12, 2009 Caramel malts, some herbal hops, light citrus, floral, as well. Flavor has a much stronger hop bitterness than the aroma leads on, but the flavor is still dominated by the caramel malts. Still, some floral and herbal notes along with mild citrus tones. Very enjoyable, if a bit sweet overall. arrogantb (809), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 4, 2009 This brew had a solid amber orange color, a small white head, and a smooth balanced taste. The dry hopping seemed noticeable, I don’t know why, but the hops were in there. Decent session beer and even better they donate some of the profits to the homeless! I wonder if that little part will change since I understand this has been taken over by AB.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 14, 2009 12oz bottle. Cloudy amber pour with a big tan head. Sweet and grainy malt aroma with a bit of hop. Malty flavor up front, but quickly turns crisp and hoppy despite being almost a year old. Flavor was much better than aroma. Would like to try it fresh. unclemike (833), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA

Having lived in VA/MD/DC region for a long time I use to drink this one pretty regularly, and I didn’t realize it had been retired, which explains why I haven’t seen it in a while....
Overall Impression:
Looking back on an old rating I had no comments but the score, so I’ll just score it for now. Too bad, because I do remember thinking this was an enjoyable brew.
