Turonis Blue Eyed Moose

Good clean taste, great hop character. No cloying unfermented sugars. Very nice everyday drinking beer. Worth making a pilgrimage to Evansville, IN just to try the beer and great pizza. Nice ambience in the restaurant, friendly people.

On tap at the restaurant. Overall the best of Turonis brews. Dark amber pour with very full flavor in mouth. Spicy hops and caramel malt.

Update:Another new beer from the new brewer.First real brewer this place has had.Dark amber but still transleucent.Milky white head goes nowhere.Palate is full now that the beer warmed up.Balance was the aim here and they did well.Huge,juicy malts are balanced perfectly with the citric hops.Mouth is full of caramel,toffee,oarnge. Finish is a little more bitter but still sweet(malts)and balanced with hop flavor. Tasted a little alcohol at one point.Overall,I was extremely impressed.

Draft. Pours a light brown with a lacing cream head. Aroma is light pine with a light caramel malt. Taste is light pine, with a welcoming sweet caramel malt that smooth out the normal IPA strong hop flavor. Has a bit of a woody finish A very easy drinking ipa that is not over the top.

On tap at Mad Anthony’s Octobeer Fest. Amber color with a thin off-white head. Nice hop nose. Tastey malty beer with a clean caramel sweetness. Lots of soft pine hops in the finish.

The light, creamy head sat atop a dark brownish amber body. For an IPA, the hops is not overwhelming.

The beer seems to change month to month. I felt compelled to finally rate it after having a pint tonight. Along with a nice hop balance, I noticed a nice underbelly of caramel malts. Seemed more balanced than usual, which is a good thing and a step in the right direction.

Draft sample at St Louis Microfest 5/13/06: Reddish copper with a bit of a sticky head. This presents an earthy hoppiness with a citric twist only at the end. Pretty good IPA.
