TAR (1995), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA May 20, 2003 Updated: May 26, 2003Lightly hazed pumpkin shade. Quick, off white foam. Subtle aroma of hazelnut overtones, faintly hayish tinge, soft, spicy hops, caramel, raw malt toastiness, apple, and estery yeast flares. Gently carbonated, round mouthfeel. Moderately acidic flavors are proceeded my earthy flavors, Northern Brewer/Styrian-like round juiciness, walnut skin, and plum-like graininess. Finishes with a trace of yam, pale malt (most likely Munich), and cracker. Overall, too acidic and lacking the proper malt depth. Still, a noteworthy, locally produced Maibock.
