Dec 6, 2005 black pour with a brown head. chocolate nose. watery but alright. slight roast finish goes well with the sweet chocolate. light citrus that balances well. this is dusty, very dusty with a seedless grape note that detracts.

Jun 20, 2004 Draft at Fest: Near opaque with big creamy tan head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of roasted and chocolate malts, nutty, chalky, and floral hops. The taste is bittersweet with a lactic tone. Undertones of vanilla, plum and lemongrass. Smoky and chalky on the finish. The feel is lively and dry, medium-bodied. A good stout, quaffable, worth a try.

May 19, 2004 Draft: Prune liquid. Silky head mostly dwindles. Nice roasted malt and soft vanilla nose. Lightly chalky black malt edge paired with caramel, esters, chocolate fudge, and molasses. Mellow carbonation. Slippery body. Understated hop snap paves the way for soft notes of vanilla and roasted malts. Finishes lightly seared with a touch of apple acidity, which is the only distracting element. I credit Eric, (the sort-of new head brewer), for the turnaround of this once-undrinkable, so-called stout.

Nov 24, 2003 Mostly coffee and chocolate, some vinous notes but not enough to compete. Medium body and very smooth finish. Nothing too wild or breathtaking here, a "stout for the masses." Above average and what I will get at Turoni's from now on.

Nov 19, 2003 Growler and tap: Black,very dark brown. Dark brown head,medium,but not very lasting. Roasty,mocha,creamy aroma. Thick mouthfeel,medium,to full,body.In your face roasty,mocha flavors. Some chewy caramel and chocolate as well. A real clean tasting stout. Finish is loaded with roasty,mocha flavors. Very lingering.Quite a good stout,unfortunately,served very cold,in a chilled glass,unless requested otherwise. Quite a step up,from the nitro version(blah) last year.

Mar 22, 2003 Black and oily without any sign of head. Chocolate, milky nose. Taste started out thick and sweet, slight chocolate and non-dairy creamer flavors, but turned to a sweet, almost grape juice flavor that killed it in the end. Very unbalanced and grapy as it warmed.
