Papillon (172), Sudbury, Ontario, Canada Aug 9, 2009 500 mL Bottle. Pale straw body with a thin bubbly white head that settles to a wispy film lacing the sides of the glass. Aroma wet hay, grains, and somewhat metallic. Flavor is mostly like cereal and straw in liquid form, thin and somewhat watery in the mouth. Grains and corn husk in the aftertaste. Something phenolic about the finish. It struggles to make a decent impression. I might remember it if I ever travel to Africa. SuIIy (1406), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA Aug 8, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a clear gold color with a big white head. head receeds to a light film very quickly. Nose is light grain notes and some straw. Palate is thin and fizzy. Flavors of graininess and light straw with some carbonation in the finish. Ron (1002), Rochester, New York, USA Aug 5, 2009 The only thing good I can say after drinking this is... I crossed Kenya off my list and I don’t have to drink it again. The only flavor is a bad metallic flavor. killjoy966 (215), Washington, USA Aug 5, 2009 Notes from Seattle International Beer Festival. Pours crystal clear and pale golden. Could use a little more carbonation. Not much flavor. Another imitation of an American macro beer but not a as terrible as others would have you believe. Dragonblaze99 (349), Greater London, England Aug 1, 2009 500ml bottle from Tesco.
Very metallic aroma. Pale amber with medium head with large bubbles. Very metallic flavour. Very much overcarbonated and way too watery. No finish to speak of. Might just as well drink water instead of this. egajdzis (3602), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 27, 2009 [BB End 2004] Poured a pale golden color with a medium white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of oxidation, corn, citrus, and grains. Taste of cardboard, corn, metal, and grainy oxidation. Not that great. Sampled while watching Three Sheets Tanzania, thanks to my Kenyan co-worker. anwegmann (6), Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA does not count Jul 18, 2009 I really like this beer. Perhaps it is a product of my affinity for the African continent, but I find this beer extremely refreshing. It is not the best beer in the world (clearly), but I don’t think it is as bad as some of the ratings it has received. It’s biting enough, smooth enough, and, if served very cold, refreshing enough for a warm afternoon in Kenya, or southern Louisiana. In my opinion: a great lager when served cold, worthy of many tastes. A bit pricey, though. delnoche (212), Germany Jul 17, 2009 355ml bottle poured into a dimpled mug. Clear straw with a fair amount of white head. The nose evolved as the head dissipated. Aroma is slight barnyard at first, then a light floral hops, and finally a sweet malt. Flavor is slight sweet corn with a very slight hops undertone. Almost no carbonation. Very watery. Not totally unpleasant but not good either.
