DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA Jan 3, 2009 Bottle. Mild malty aroma. Light yellow body, large white head. Flavor is slightly sweet and malty. Quite mild and watery. Bierkrug (235), Idar-Oberstein (in Pakistan), Germany Dec 15, 2008 Best beer in Kenya, that being said beers suck there. But on a nice hot day after a safari its great. I can fantasize about being a white hunter, colonial bureaucrat, or Mau Mau rebel while drinking this. Dark yellow color with a thin white head. Bready malty, slightly acidic aroma. Clean, malty taste with a slight sour bitterness. Very refreshing beer, tastes similar to a Kirin or an unskunked European green bottle beer. But still has rice and corn in it. Ok in Kenya but took some bottles home and well it was not great there. m4rest88 (216), Beverly Hills, California, USA Dec 14, 2008 Pours with a light brown hue that sits below a small head that is mostly diminshing.
Aroma is of wet dog, rice, wheat, and lots of yeast!
Flavor is of hay, water, - no real taste to the beer actually.
Light mouthfeel with fizzy carbonation.
hmmmm. better than the casa beer, but still pretty bad! BMan1113VR (2757), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Dec 14, 2008 Weak, but better than that last pale lager from
Africa I just had. Pours with a white head that
stays around a bit before fading to a ring.
Troubled lacing. Very pale yellow body. Aroma is
adjunct, toast and stale malt with a touch of wet
dog. Taste, well there really isnt one, just
carbonated water. Some butter and toast if I am
really stretching things. Fizzy. Travlr (700), Washington, Washington DC, USA Dec 13, 2008 Small bottle at Ghana Cafe in DC. Better body than most developing country lagers, decent hops in the finish. I would like to try the domestic Kenyan version. pumpmaster (474), Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA Dec 4, 2008 12 ounce bottle purchased at Total Wine Pembroke Pines, FL for $2.29 Not bad. terrybail (331), London, Ontario, Canada Oct 28, 2008 Bottle from the LCBO
Not quite sure why i liked this one needs to be revisited
tarheels86 (704), Washington DC, USA Oct 25, 2008 Tusker!!! This was really the first beer that I came to love. Had this practically everyday in Kenya for over a month- much better than anything else in the bars out in the middle of nowhere besides Guinness Foreign Extra. I’ve found this in the US a handful of times but it is much different- pretty much tastes like straight up corn seltzer water. But I will rate the local version. 500 mL bottle. Pours a light yellow with a medium head that settles quickly. Lacing is not bad actually. Aroma is corn, sorghum, and a whiff of hops. Mouthfeel is watery. Taste is corn, sugar, and dirt or something. It may not be that terrific, but if you are in Kenya you are not allowed to leave without trying this.
