I must say I was totally shocked by this one. A very clean lager and very acceptable lager from Africa. Not much in the way of taste or excitement but that is preferable to lots of bad taste.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
A nice light decent lager. Not really very hoppy, but still a nice light easy drinking beer. Light, fizzy, but no weak flavors. Acceptable.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottled sample. Very pale yellow in colour with high carbonation. Grainy cereal malt aromas, along with a note of wet grass. Flavors are not so good: creamed corn, canned peas, and a bit of apple juice with a bit of herbal hops in there somewhere. Very poor.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle (500ml) I was outraged that I had only rated 21 countries - time to expand my horizons - and we start with Kenya. I’m sure it couldn’t possibly taste like every other SIL/pale lager ... Poured a slightly hazy, bubbly, incredibly pale yellow with a big frothy, soapy-looking head. Nice lacing, though. Aroma was a little on the skunky side, with grains (corn, wheat and canola) and maybe a hint of apple juice - not really anything that should call itself malt. Taste was surpisingly nutty, with a little hop character, more straw, wheat and corn, and a slightly bitter finish - not too sweet. Mouthfeel was strangely oily for such a watery beer. Not much aftertaste, but I’ve had much worse. At least it’s mild.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pale yellow/light gold in body with a compact, almost lasting, head. There was some lacing but it was hardly worth the effort. Grassy aroma along with some lemon. Taste was ok without being outstanding, light in body, light citrus and not a lot else.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottled. Pale yellow colour, mediumsized white bubbly head. Weak malty aroma. Malty flavour with artificial sweetness. A bit hayish finish.

Bottled 50cl (BB 11/2005)
Very pale yellow, some creamy white head. Aroma has rice, faint grassy hops. Sweet malty. Carbonated. Butterscotch diacetyl notes. Low quality African lager.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle. Watery gold coloured with slim white head. Malty/corn aroma. Taste is pretty rank really, I’ve just had a couple of pretty good german beers, and this switch was a tactical error. Gets me another country I suppose; better than a macro swill, high praise indeed.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
First African beer I’ve ever tried. Thin, but has a pleasant light and sweet taste. Really good on a hot day, no real shock as it is from Kenya.

2.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
i didn’t catch an aroma, but my nose may have been off because i was drinking it where they were cooking with garlic. the pale yellow color, not much head. the mild flavor had a hint of graininess in it, but it had a watery feeling all around. inoffesive, if unmemorable brew.
