Brewed in Kenya since 1922. Medium alcohol beer that is a favorite choice for many occasions.

I really enjoy beer, but it was hard to enjoy this one, very bland, boring beer, almost tasted like dirty water, I really wanted to like it, but it was bad! I want to try some different African beers!

Golden lacing little hazy white head fizzy aroma of sweet malt, straw .....taste of sweet malt and crisp... not overly sweet though just right sessionable typical pale lager would do again love the label

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2011 500 ml bottle in Kenya. Best beer from Kenya Breweries, that being said most beers suck here. But on a nice hot day after a safari its great. I can fantasize about being a white hunter, colonial bureaucrat, or Mau Mau rebel while drinking this. Dark yellow color with a thin white head. Bready malty, slightly acidic aroma. Clean, malty taste with a slight sour bitterness. Very refreshing beer, tastes similar to a Kirin or an unskunked European green bottle beer. But still has rice and corn in it. Ok in Kenya but took some bottles home and well it was not great there.

Bottle. Pale gold body with a frothy, white head that quickly diminishes. Malty aroma with notes of grain, bread, sweet grass, straw. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lighty to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, slightly sticky texture, lively carbonation. The taste is slightly plasticy. Sweet corn/vegetable notes in the aftertaste. Still, drinkable and tastier than lots of pale lagers.

Good malt aroma but could use more. Sight biscuity smell with a touch fruit and some pee on deep whiffs. Has a weak unlear gold - maybe nearer to straw colour, poured a big creamy white cap that has really good retention the entire time and produces nice ropy lacing. Mouthfeel is really smooth and creamy. Medium light body. Taste is a bit of a let down since I was expecting a more profound malt flavour, but better than I expected for overall goodness. Either way, there is still plenty of malt taste that is backed by an obvious quantity of mild hops. The after taste is a bit odd with a sweet earthiness and slight bitterness which all fades quickly. Decent enough beer. I’d buy it on occasion if I could.

Light yellow colour, with a white foam. Aroma of malt and chocolate feeling in the nose.Mild hopynes in the end. Watery taste, thin body, short finish. Disapointing.

Ghana Cafe, DC 12oz ($6): Pours a super light color with a white head. Aroma is minimal, as one would expect. Taste was a little disappointing. Very, very watery it was with only a little bit of corny sweetness. For African beers, Ethiopia and Ghana seem to have Kenya beat. Still, this is drinkable and I would say better than Bud Light.
