COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed in Kenya since 1922. Medium alcohol beer that is a favorite choice for many occasions.

This is now brewed under licence across the border by Tanzanian Breweries (SABMIller). Not sure if they have an exclusive contract but all the Tusker I saw in Kenya and Tanzania in Sep 2005 was brewed by Tanzanian Breweries. Surprising, as the brewers used to be arch rivals. Anyway, this is not a patch on the Tusker malt lager. It’s a typical sugary-corny African lager. Hello taste? Pale gold, thin head. Aroma of corn starch and sugar water. The palate is thin and fizzy. Flavourwise, it’s corn and sugar water, with a light metallic bite from TB’s piss-poor bittering hop.

12oz bottle. Pours clear straw gold with a short white head. The aroma was sweet malt and grain. The flavor is a bit sweet and malty with a crisp, dry finish. Medium carbonation, light to medium body, pretty standard.

Pale Lager I guess! A very pale, clear looking golden color. A pretty good sized head that did fizzle away pretty quickly but left some on top. The aroma is grassy, grainy, floral and a little fruity and not bad. This however isn’t a very good tasting beer. First of all the mouthfeel is thin and watery leaving me wanting a lot more. The flavor consists of mild hops but more grainy and grassy and an all around typical mass marketed below average lager taste. Except it wasn’t that cheap. I bought a single at a local store and compare to the other prices/quality they had this was a horrible deal. I think I may at least get to cross off another country. I’ll pound one if someone gives it to me but I won’t be buying this again.

It’s not bad, but it is not good either, your typical macrobrew lager, just this time it if from Kenya. Slightly sweetened maybe by corn flavors.

Bottle. Quite ordinary pale lager. Yellow colour with white head. A little malt in aroma. No sense of Africa at all.

yellow, white head, grass aroma, grass and corn flavor, very light bitterness or maybe not... but who cares, the beer sucked anyway.
